"I don't like her."

Nayeon rolled her eyes, bracing herself for the argument that she and Jihyo were sure to have again.

"You've made that perfectly clear," Nayeon said. She was already in a bad mood thanks to sleeping through her alarm, and Jihyo was just adding to her irritation.

"I don't like the way she treats you. She's supposed to be your girlfriend, not your owner."

Jihyo blew out a harsh breath and crossed her arms.

Nayeon tried to keep calm, taking time to remind herself that her best friend was just looking out for her. But Jihyo didn't know her girlfriend at all.

Nayeon was aware her girlfriend didn't have the best reputation; she wasn't that naive. Yoo Jeongyeon was known for her cold personality and even colder stare. So it shocked everyone when the two suddenly started dating. Nayeon was the complete opposite of Jeongyeon in almost every way.

Jeongyeon had boyish looks and style, with almost the entirety of her wardrobe consisting of blacks and grays . Nayeon was considered one of the top beauties on campus and dressed in bright pastels.

Jeongyeon was cold and aloof and rarely talked. Nayeon was warm and inviting, a true social butterfly.

Jeongyeon wasn't much for physical touch; Nayeon's love language was touch and she couldn't keep her hands to herself.

Jihyo couldn't wrap her head around the pair. Didn't Nayeon prefer someone who actually liked holding her hand? Someone who engaged in conversation? Someone who didn't cause tension among their group when they hung out?

"You've never even given her a chance," Nayeon said. "From the moment I told you about her, all you've done is judge her and complain. And she treats me just fine by the way."

Jihyo shook her head in disbelief.

"Are you kidding? She never asks what you want to do, she just picks for you. And she calls you 'bunny'. Do I need to remind you how much you cried in middle school because of that nickname?" Jihyo stared at her, challenging her to deny it.

"I like her calling me that."

"Nayeon please." Jihyo looked frustrated and it made Nayeon feel just a bit bad. "Jeongyeon is trouble. I'm worried that she's going to hurt you."

"You don't know her like I do Hyo," Nayeon said with a small smile. "She would never hurt me. I know you don't believe me and think I'm just blinded by love, but it's true. I've never felt more safe than I do when I'm with her."

Despite what Jihyo and her friends believed, Jeongyeon was actually a very caring and loving girlfriend. Just because she didn't show it like everyone expected her to didn't make her a bad person.

"Do you know why I let her call me 'bunny'?" Nayeon asked, trying to defuse the argument before Jihyo really started in on her girlfriend.

"Why? You hated that nickname so much. Why let her call you that?" Jihyo asked, genuinely curious. She'd been the one to defend Nayeon and console her back during their early school days and knew her friend's pain well.

"I was always hiding my mouth when I'd laugh because I didn't want her looking at my teeth. We were walking back to my dorm one night when I did it again. She pulled my hand away and told me to quit doing that because she didn't like me hiding," Nayeon said.

"So I told her how I cried so much when Jiwon and her friends would tease me and how I decided I was never going to smile again. And that I hated that nickname and would never let anyone call me that."
