Anyone need some angst? It's a long one 😀
It's been in my drafts forever and I finally finished it 🫶🏻

*********

It was quiet in the apartment. There were no signs of life like the tv playing or the Bluetooth speaker blasting out a song or the sounds of laughter that once used to ring out, filling the silence. There was none of that tonight. There hadn't been any of it for the last few nights actually and Jeongyeon hated how loud the silence was.

She had been stuck on the couch ever since she got home from work and hadn't bothered to eat a proper meal or even take a shower. What was the point in doing any of that anyway when her whole reason for living wasn't here with her? The one solace she had was that some of Nayeon's things were still here. She hadn't come to get her stuff yet so Jeongyeon could pretend that they were still together and this wasn't happening.

But it was. And the worst part of it all was that it was her own fault.

She didn't want to believe she was capable of doing something so terrible. She kept denying it and insisting it wasn't true, but it was pretty damn hard to believe when there was a video of her doing exactly what she'd sworn she hadn't done.

Jeongyeon had made out with someone else. To make it even worse, it was with the one girl she'd promised was nothing more than a coworker. She'd watched helplessly as Nayeon's heart broke in front of her when she confronted her with the video. And what could Jeongyeon say? Being drunk was no excuse for what she had done. Nayeon had left in tears and Jeongyeon hadn't heard or seen her since that awful night.

Their friends were angry with her of course and they had every right to be. Sana and Chaeyoung came and chewed her out for a good hour and Jeongyeon just sat there and took it. They didn't even bother to tell her goodbye when they left. She didn't deserve one anyway. Tzuyu sent her the angriest message she'd probably ever gotten in her entire life then blocked her number. Jeongyeon definitely deserved that.

Mina and Dahyun made her want to crawl into a hole and die with how disappointed they looked. They had come over to find out if it was true only to discover Nayeon hadn't exaggerated anything.

"I trusted you unnie," Mina said.

It would have been kinder if Mina had stabbed her instead.

Momo didn't even contact her at all. Maybe she never would. She had always liked Nayeon more anyway so it made sense.

Jeongyeon was surprised her best friend still even associated with her. Jihyo had come over not long after Nayeon left that night and had cussed her out and hit her a good bit then left too. She showed back up an hour later with beer and they didn't talk for the rest of the night. She kept showing up every day since, but they still hadn't talked. The silence was easier.

Maybe Jeongyeon would do everyone a favor and let it eat her alive until she didn't exist anymore.

She didn't move at all or even glance at the front door when it opened. Jihyo came in with a couple of bags full of food and other essentials. She frowned when she saw Jeongyeon still hadn't cleaned her apartment. It wasn't like her at all to let things get this bad. But it wasn't like her to cheat either so maybe she didn't know her best friend as well as she thought.

Jihyo brought the bags to the kitchen and got busy preparing the ramen and gimbap she'd picked up. The empty sink let her know that Jeongyeon hadn't eaten again, and she wanted to cry, whether out of frustration or sadness she didn't know.

"Jeongyeon, come eat," Jihyo called. It was the first time she'd spoken to her since that night. Jeongyeon was like a zombie as she walked into the kitchen and sat at the small table. She stared at the steaming bowl of noodles but didn't pick up her chopsticks.
