—MY HEART SKIPPED A BEAT AS ME AND JOHNNY STOOD ALONE
"So.." Johnny said awkwardly, shoving his hands in the pockets of his jean jacket. He gave me a small, awkward smile before looking back down at the ground.
"You wanna get outta here? I hate parties." I sighed, slouching my shoulders miserably. Johnny's head shot up, looking at me with eyes full of hope. Seemed to me that he disliked parties just as much as I did, and rightfully so. Johnny was about as awkward as a cow on ice, but it didn't bother me. If anything I actually found it kind of cute.
Johnny nodded frantically at my idea, making me giggle. I motioned him to follow me through the crowd and with some shimmying and sliding between a few soggy and sweaty bodies, we made it back out to the dead streets of Tulsa.
"You hungry?" I asked him, looking at the boy who was now standing a fair distance away from me due to there no longer being such an intense and claustrophobic crowd. I waited for his response as he was a bit distracted by him trying to catch his breathe. Once he was under control, he nodded at me before we began to walk toward a 24 hour diner near the high way.
I looked at my watch, seeing that it read 1:30 am. It was late, but also very early. In my opinion it was the perfect time as the sky was beautiful, dark and deep, full of stars.
