I woke up to Johnny still embracing me, holding me in his arms. His breathe was steady, his chest rising and falling smoothly as my head laid against it, listening to his heart beat. As he slowly moved his body, I could tell that he was beginning to wake up. As he began to stroke my hair, I both heard and felt his heart beat quicken.
I looked up to see him smiling at me, his eyes bright and hopeful, something I had never really seen within him. "Morning.." I grumbled, stroking his cheek.
"Morning, Mi Estrella.." he told me before giving me a light kiss, the nickname making my heart flutter, his Spanish accent along with it. "I haven't spoken Spanish in forever.." he chuckled lightly, looking up.
"How come?" I asked, sitting up against the headboard and leaning against him as he sat up with me.
"Well... I don't speak it around anybody else cause.. why would I? but also, i'm usually targeted because of my heritage. My father's Mexican and so he always kept his language hidden from others, he only taught me growing up because he thought we'd move to a better place. Then.. things got heated and my parents started fighting one another, along with me." Johnny explained, looking at me in the eyes as I listened intently.
"Is that why you?.." I pointed to my cheek, signalling to the scar on his face. He nodded, looking down in both disappointment and pain.
"I always wondered why the Soc's targeted me.. but I figured it out eventually." He began to twirl strands of my hair with his fingers. I turned his head toward me with my hand on his cheek before passionately kissing him. He sighed deeply in satisfaction before kissing me once again.
