A/N: I know that the Sakamakis have certain powers, but I'm changing that aspect in this story slightly.
Heart hammering in her chest, the auburn haired girl lunged forward, her speed fast but her movements clumsy. Her hand aimed for his chest, where she'd be able to grasp his heart and yank it from the cave within his chest. Of course, that didn't happen.
Karlheinz offered a cheeky smile, teleporting as soon as she was an eyelash length away, causing her to stumble into the glass cabinets that'd been behind him. Shards of translucent pane pierced her pale flesh, but she didn't care, the Tsukinami was determined. So, she lunged again... and again... and again. But not once did she hit him.
"Reiji," Karlheinz's voice sounded, causing the dark haired boy to open his eyes, his small smile never fading, "control your wife." Karlheinz's voice was dark and... powerful. Reiji felt as if he had to step forward and pull Athena back. That's what he did. His long arm wrapped around her torso, pulling her back into his chest with an agitated shout.
"Let go of me! Let me have him!"
"Calm yourself, you're being improper."
"Improper!?"
"No, no," Karlheinz sighed, "never touch your wife to control her: use your voice. She should listen."
"My apologies, Father." Reiji hesitated for a moment before gently removing his arm from around Athena, leaving her standing there, panting and glaring daggers at the man before her.
The enraged girl didn't listen, she lunged once more, this time, she managed a harsh blow to the King's nose. Vital fluid trickled down his face, coating his lips as his golden eyes glared through Athena's soul.
"Athena," Reiji seemed... not cross but somewhat conflicted as he spoke, "stop." It was as if she'd lost complete control over her body. Nausea bubbled in the back of her throat as her arms were pinned to her sides, her feet pressed flat against the floor. Not even her mouth would move.
"I'm disappointed that you don't use your powers more," Karlheinz sighed, returning to an opened file on his desk, "how am I to know that you'd be a suitable king when you refuse to use your gifts?"
Silence passed and the harsh winds knocked up the large windows. Athena stared through it, up at the moon's crescent shape, ignoring the two men that she hated most in her entire life. Reiji stood behind her, his face stoic and dull, eyes focused on the floor before Karlheinz's feet, his hands held by his sides, balled into fists. Karlheinz let out a low chuckle.
"Why are you here?" He asked, "You knew she'd attack me."
"Look at her, she's wounded."
"You're more than qualified."
"It's your job."
The 'doctor' sighed, grasping a slip of paper and scribbling on it before handing it to his son.
"There, a permission slip for both of you to head home."
Reiji's jaw clenched but he said nothing.
The ride in the limo was at least an hour and the pair sat opposite each other, reserved to their own minds. Athena had been sulking, the pain from the glass had begun to sting - not that she'd let him know. Reiji, too, was sulking, not about her actions - in fact, he respected her more for trying to kill his father... but for the use of the powers he swore he'd never use. The limo drove over a speedbump, causing Athena to hiss.
Reiji stood up, catching her attention as he headed to where the first aid box had been stashed before he walked back to her, placing the box beside her and kneeling on the limo floor before her.
