It was the sound of thunder which woke her from her sweet slumber. She'd been laying on her stomach, cheek squished against the pillow, mouth open as she snored and drooled. When the clouds cackled, the first-blood shot up, leaning on her elbows as she stared out the window with wide eyes. Her long waves had been plaited neatly, keeping away from her face and ended with simple black elastics. She gulped, wiping her face as she looked around their room.
Reiji was sitting up beside her, a candle flickering on his bedside table as his fuschia eyes scanned the pages of the large book in his hands.
"You're awake," she mumbled, rubbing her eyes, shoulders tensing as the thunder sounded once more.
"You were snoring," he replied, not looking up from his book.
Suddenly, she felt nervous. It was as if she were an ordinary high school girl with a crush. She gnawed at the inside of her mouth, eyebrows furrowed as she stared at the new glass vase upon her bedside table with beautiful tulips placed inside. "Where did those come from?" She asked, admiring the closest yellow one.
"I stumbled across them and figured you would like them. They are your favourite, yes?"
"Yes…" she tried her best to fight her smile as she pulled away from them, careful to not wound the delicate petals. "Reiji, about earlier…"
"What about it?" He replied, rather quickly causing her to flinch.
"It was just the heat of the moment, I was angry, I-"
"If you kiss people like that when your angry, then I might have to anger you more often," he replied, closing his book and finally looking at her, "don't try to tell me that you didn't enjoy it," he placed the book down.
"But…"
"But what?"
"You didn't like it."
"I never said that," he sighed, removing his glasses and raking a hand through his hair, "I'm tired of you hiding your feelings, Athena. If you love me then that's great. Show it, don't hide it."
"You want that?"
"What sort of husband doesn't want his wife's love and affection?"
Her blush was hot as she looked away.
The thunder sounded louder and nearer, causing her to jump once more as Reiji carefully lowered his body into the bed. "Come here," he sighed.
She did as she was told, laying beside him, staring into his eyes as their noses touched, the blankets smothered their cold bodies.
Reiji's hand caressed her cheek, thumb stroking her pink skin before his arm snaked around her waist pulling her into his bare chest. "You're such a wimp," he snorted, causing her to grumble in response. "Shush, get some rest, we have a long day ahead of us."
"What are we doing?" She'd wondered why they were sleeping during the nighttime.
"Travelling."
"Where?"
"The castle."
She stiffened in his arms, staring up at him with teary eyes. She whispered, "I can't."
"I will be by your side the entire time."
"Please…"
"I promise. It's only a few days."
"Reiji-"
He leaned forward, soft lips catching hers as he pressed a long, delicate kiss to her pink lips.
"I appreciate your support."
"No, I'm serious," she said, ignorant to the next grumble from the clouds, "you have to be-"
"I am not your brother," he said, "I will win the crown fair and square." There was a long silence before she simply nodded.
"Okay…"-_-_-_-_-
After a long, eight hour limo ride, the Sakamakis had made it through the portal and were now being transported in pairs. Athena and Reiji sat in their carriage opposite one another, one reading and the other staring off into the distance of the demon realm. "You're fidgeting," Reiji commented, ceasing the vibrations of her heels smacking the carriage floor. "You will be fine."
"I'm scared," she said, straightening her black skirt as she crossed one leg over the other.
"How can I calm your worries?" He asked, placing his book aside for her - something he did quite often now.
"I-I don't know," she said, "kill your father, perhaps?" A small chuckle left his lips as he looked at her.
"I am not yet strong enough," he replied.
"Take my blood," she returned, "where would you like? Wrist, neck, leg-"[TW: The next few scenes are suggesting and may include some slight smut.]
"Leg?" His eyebrow raised, "that's rather improper, don't you think?"
"We're married," she replied, cheeks tinted pink as she thrust her wrist before his face, "go on."
His gloved fingers curled around her wrist, lowering it as he stared deep into her eyes.
"You've intrigued me," he whispered darkly, smirking as her pink lips parted, "may I?" His eyes trailed down her neck and breasts, following the curve of her sides and stomach to her thighs.
"I-I," she couldn't get her words out as he slithered from his seat, kneeling on the carriage floor before her.
"Athena?" He said, teeth latching onto his gloves, gently tugging the white fabric off.
"Y-Yes," she cleared her throat, staring at him with wide eyes.
"Close the curtain." She did as he ordered.
Her teeth sank into her tongue as his cold hand caressed the curve of her calf. He kept his eyes trained on her face as he lifted her leg, resting it upon his shoulder.
"W-What are you doing?" A gasp left her lips as he pressed several kisses upon her knee, slowly trailing them up her leg, towards the end of her skirt.
"Lift your skirt," he said.
"W-What?" He looked at her, removing his glasses as he did so.
"You heard me."
"R-Reiji, we've never-"
"Do you want me to stop?" She didn't reply as her shaking hands gripped the hem of her skirt, slowly sliding it up her thighs. "Good girl," Reiji praised, causing her to gulp as a shiver cascaded down her spine.
His kisses continued, travelling up her leg slowly.
"W-What if we get caught?" She cleared her throat.
"We are only an hour into our eight hour journey," he replied, inching closer and closer to her core.
An involuntary gasp left her lips when his cold mouth pressed against the sensitive spot on her inner thigh. Reiji smirked, running his tongue along it slowly, earning a needy whine from his wife. "I like that noise," he said, opening his mouth and biting into the soft flesh of her thighs.
She couldn't hold the moan that escaped her throat as her head fell back. Her long red nails gripped the leather seats, puncturing them as he sucked the blood from her sweet spot.
It was heavenly for the few moments it lasted. Eventually, Reiji pulled away, droplets of her blood fell onto her thigh. She didn't have time to calm down before his tongue darted across her skin once more.
Gentle, he removed her leg from its resting position and he got up from where he was kneeling, a proud smile on his face.
"You look horrified," he said smugly.
"I've never experienced anything like that," she whispered, hand covering her mouth in shock.
"Good," he said, "that means I get to witness your first reactions." Her blush refused to fade. "I admit, I was acting rather rambunctiously. I do hope you weren't uncomfortable."
"I would have stopped you," she replied, clearing her throat and attempting to regain her composure. "I… enjoyed it."
"I know," he said with a smile as he tugged his gloves back on.
"It's a shame that it has to end." It was his turn to blush as her blue eyes met his.
"We have important things to discuss, My Dear." He cleared his throat, "Perhaps later."
"What do we need to discuss?" She raised an eyebrow, correcting her posture and tugging her skirt down. She squirmed uncomfortably, she'd have to change as soon as they arrived at the castle.
"Our plan."-_-_-_-_-
"Was it the wind or did I hear a little action from your carriage?" Laito smirked as he stepped out of his shared carriage with Kanato, wrapping an arm around Athena and wiggling his eyebrows.
"I am positive that you are joking but on the off chance that you are not, then no, you are hearing things." She retorted as the final carriage came to a halt, letting Subaru and Shuu out.
"Wow." Yui caught Athena's attention and the first-blood swallowed anxiously as she looked up at the building Yui was fawning over. "It's beautiful."
"Indeed," Laito dragged Athena towards Yui as he landed his free arm across her shoulders, "it is the home of a King after all." Athena could only hum in response.
Karlheinz was seated in the dining hall at the head of the table and eight other chairs had been prepared. His sons weren't surprised in the slightest as they were led to the dim room.
Yui and Athena grasped each other's hands as they entered the room, curtsying in perfect sync at the evil king before them.
"You must be Miss Komori," Karlgeinz beamed, "the first ever awakened."
"It is a pleasure to meet you, your highness." Yui bowed once more, squeezing Athena's hand tighter.
"Take your seats," Karlheinz said, "Reiji, I want you beside me."
Dinner was silent with Athena seated beside Reiji, her hands under the dinner table, fidgeting with the cloth as her food was left untouched. Karlheinz didn't comment, nor did Reiji, surprisingly.
"So," Karlheinz began, eyes trained on Athena, "will I be expecting grandchildren soon?"
Everyone stopped eating as they stared at Reiji and Athena with wide eyes. Athena stayed silent.
"Soon, Father." Reiji said, "Once we have both graduated school at the very least."
"A shame…" Karlheinz's voice grew darker but no one mentioned anything. Dinner fell back into an uncomfortable silence.-_-_-_-_-
She'd been in the bathroom for an hour now and Reiji could no longer hear her delicate noises. He'd removed his blazer and waistcoat now, leaving him in his tight trousers and half-buttoned, tucked in shirt. His sleeves had been rolled up to his elbows and his gloves and glasses removed. Reluctant, he headed towards their attached bathroom, knocking on the door.
"Yeah?" Her voice was hoarse.
"It's been an hour," he said, "can I come in?"
"Yeah."
The door opened with a soft click and his ears burned pink as he caught sight of her shiny legs poking out of the murky water. He was quiet as he seated himself on the stool beside the golden bathtub.
Her hair had been pinned in a bun utop her head, her body encased within the large bubbles formed in the bath's icy waters. "I acknowledge that you're having a hard time," he said gently, "we're only here for three more days. The ball is in two days."
"I know," she replied, leaning her elbow on the side of the tub, palm holding her head up as she stared at him. "I don't want to live here." She then said, causing his eyebrows to raise, "I miss our home."
"Well," he said, "I suppose we can live in a smaller house until children arrive."
"Children? Plural?"
"If you are willing, I would like that."
"I think that we should raise our children in the human realm," she said, "let them choose as they get older."
"As you wish."
"They'll come here for lessons," she whispered, closing her eyes, "when they become teenagers, we'll let them enrol in school."
"Of course." She hummed in response.
"How are you feeling?"
"I beg your pardon?" She'd sat up straight, looking at him with a raised eyebrow. "Uh… I'm okay. And you?"
His hand reached out, grabbing her chin and brushing his thumb across her lower lip.
"I am fine," he replied softly, "we should get you to bed." He stood up, holding out his hand for her to take.
"You'd see me naked," she blushed.
"Yes, and?"
"You can't want that."
"Why not?"
"It's indecent. And you are a decent man."
"A few hours ago, you were more than ready to give yourself to me," he recalled, causing her cheeks to burn.
"That moment's passed and it will never happen again."
"Is that so?"
She found amusement tugging at his strings. So, she nodded with a big, proud smile on her face.
"Yes." She said, "I am positive."
"Don't test me, Darling."
"I would never dream of it, My Love."
Her eyes grew wide when his lips parted and his ears tinted pink. She blinked once and then twice before a smile spread across her lips. "You like being called that."
"I'll be waiting for you in the other room." He cleared his throat.
"Aren't you going to stay here?" She didn't wait for him to begin moving when she stood up from the tub, bubbles sliding down her soaked skin as she stretched her arms up to the ceiling.
Reiji's face was comical.
"Would you be a dear and help me step out of the bath?" She teased, holding out her hand for him to take.
He was silent for far too long and her confidence quickly wore off, causing her arm to fall in front of her stomach, clutching the other one.
"I'm sorry," she said, "that was indecent of me."
"You're gorgeous," was all he said as he took her hand in his, helping her out of the bath.
"Were you flustered?" Her eyebrows were raised as she wrapped a fluffy towel around her body. "I don't see why, my body isn't special."
"It is," he cleared his throat, "it's yours."
