"Hello Darling," Athena greeted as she entered her husband's study, her blazer draped over her arm, leaving her in her clear white shirt and short, high-waisted skirt. She'd brushed her hair and left it unbound, falling down her shoulders in a frizzy mess and swaying as she closed the door with a click and made her way to the navy sofa he'd been sitting on, "it smells like Shuu in here."
"We had some business," Reiji said, looking at her as she seated herself beside him, leaving her blazer to the side.
"You weren't in lessons today," she said, taking his hand in hers and massaging the tense knuckles. He looked at her. "Yui had her first drink. She has impeccable control," Athena said, "the girl had been bleeding a while and Yui didn't even stir. I didn't even need to tell her to stop. It was impressive."
"That's a relief," Reiji said, watching as her nails kissed his palm.
"How was your day?" She asked.
"Tense. Your studio has been cleaned out, I've ordered you new canvases, brushes and an easel. I hope they suffice for now."
"Thank you," Athena gulped as she looked at the fireplace before them. The flames were flickering calmly and it was the only source of light in the room. Reiji turned his head to face her, their noses nearly touching.
"How was your day?" he asked tenderly.
"It was quite good, considering." She said with a smile, "I spent all my free time with Yui - she's actually quite amusing. As I said, I helped her with her first drink - don't worry, I've no interest in cheating on you. Ansel did try to kiss me though-"
"He did?" Reiji's eyebrows had furrowed, "And?"
"Well, of course, I never let him..." she said, eyes meeting his, "what did you do to him and why am I his prey?" She'd stopped massaging his hand now as she looked at him rather coldly. Reiji let out a long sigh.
"Allow me to make some tea first," he said.
"Why is he in such a sour mood?" Agatha grumbled as Ansel slammed the bathroom door shut, causing their little hut to shake aggressively.
"Something must have happened at school," the blonde man sighed, eyes trained on his newspaper as he rocked back and forth in his chair.
"How was school, Pops?" She asked, plaiting her long hair as she hummed in thought.
"Oh, it was alright, the students are lovely."
"Did you meet her?"
"Yes, she's a diligent student."
"Isn't she beautiful?"
"She looks awfully familiar," he said, a smile on his lips as he looked at his adopted granddaughter.
Ansel came stomping out of the bathroom, sitting on his bed with a huff as he folded his arms over his chest.
"What's wrong?" Agatha asked, "You're killing the mood."
"She rejected my kiss," he huffed, causing Agatha to let out a loud laugh.
"You tried to kiss her?"
"She stole my dinner!"
The silence was loud as their cups stood upon the soft, knitted coasters, one was half filled, the other emptied as they sat on the couch. Athena had tucked her legs up beneath her, shoes discarded underneath the sofa as she faced her husband, eyebrows furrowed as she leaned against the back of the cushioned seat. Reiji watched her closely, watching for any sign of response from the tale he'd just told her.
"How is that your fault?" She then said, causing his eyebrows to rise to his hairline, "He- You-" She took a deep breath, "You tried to save him. How dare he treat you like a criminal. It's not your fault. The way your brothers were acting, I was beginning to think you'd done horrible things to him."
