━ chapter twenty eight

"There's a poisonous gas that's been released in the woods. That's why he's unconscious." Todoroki explained. Mai looked around at the dark woods. "We should head back to the camp, find the Pussycats and Aizawa-Sensei." She concludes. Bakugou of course doesn't listen and runs ahead of the students.

Mandalay then relays a telepathic message to all the students explaining how villains are attacking and they can use their quirks against them. Bakugou laughs loudly rushing ahead. "Katsuki!" Mai calls after him. "Idiot..." She mumbles. 

"We can't let him go by himself." Todoroki reminds the girl. 

The two run while Shoto carries Tsubaruba on his back. Suddenly, a message comes through from Mandalay. "We have discovered one of the villains' targets! It's a student called- 'Kaachan'!" Mai's eyes widen. "Bakugou?!" Todoroki repeats. "Kaachan should avoid combat and acting independently!" Mandalay continues. "Understand, 'Kaachan'?!" 

"Shit!" 

Mai sprints to catch up with the boy. "Stop making so much noise inside my head!' He shouts. Large spears suddenly strike towards where the blonde boy once stood before Mai tackled him out of the way, and they're suddenly frozen over. Todoroki stand behind Bakugou and Mai. "Don't go rushing carelessly into things!" Todoroki scolds.

The villain floating with the spears stuck into the ground moaned from above them. "Did you not hear Mandalays' message?!" Mai shouted at the boy underneath her. "You're being targeted." 

"That damn Deku did something, I know it." Bakugou spoke sadistically, gently pushing Mai off him. 

As the villain in front was attacking, Todoroki was defending with his ice. Mai's heightened reflexes could be of help, but one wrong move and she could be stabbed.

"Bakugou! You can't use large explosions here." Todoroki warned as Bakugou got ready to fire. "The forest will catch on fire and it will only be moments before we all die." He explained. "I know! Dammit!"

The speed of the villains attacks were quickening and at this point, Mai, Todoroki and Bakugou were completely surrounded by ice and spears. Mai rubbed her eyes in stress, she was absolutely no help in this situation, she was a close-distance fighter while this villain solely focused on long-distance.

"Bakugou! Todoroki! Kumiko!" Mai's head snaps towards Shoji running towards them with Midoriya on his back. Her eyes widened in shock at the huge monster chasing them. "Dark shadow?!" Mai exclaimed in surprise. "Please, one of you use your flames!" 

Dark shadow then slammed into Moonfish, the villain opposite Mai, Todoroki and Bakugou. "Kaachan!" Midoriya yelled. The three's eyes widened once again watching Dark Shadow destroy everything around them. Todoroki stepped back. "I'll use my hands."

"Wait." Bakugou instructed. Moonfish began using his quirk to straighten himself up again, ready to attack the three students again. Before he could, Dark Shadow destroyed him. "Don't beg, small fry!" He exclaimed, before flinging him into a tree. Effectively defeating him. 

"I haven't had enough fun yet!" 

Mai tore Tsubaruba off of Todoroki and him and Bakugou flew towards Dark Shadow with their hands lit with flames.

Bakugou's hands were lit with sparks as he looked at Tokoyami, "I'm a bad mach for you." He spoke. "Sorry... thank you for saving me." He spoke back.

As Tokoyami was apologising and explaining himself, Mai struggled to lift Tsubaruba towards the boys. She attempted to muffle her grunts as she carried him along, but one boy noticed. "Eh?" He huffed. "Weakling."
