Mai was restless that night. She tossed and turned but every slight noise coming from someone's room caused her to jump. It was needless to say she was terrified after the Forest Training Camp incident and what the teachers had explained to her in the hospital.
In her mind, thoughts circulated.
If we're all in the one place now, does it not make it easier for the league to just teleport here and grab us?
Her heart pounded in her chest as these thoughts plagued her mind. She wondered if the boy who was affected the most had the same problem.
Grabbing her phone from her nightstand she noted that it was two-forty a.m. before sending the boy a text.
Me
02:42 You up?
She could hear the ping from his room with her quirk but listening carefully his breathing remained steady and quiet.
She let out a sigh of annoyance and turned on the light in her room, before immediately switching it off. What if they're outside and waiting for one of us to be awake alone?
Mai groaned and rubbed her face, deciding to go get a glass of water. Flashing her yellow orbs, the room lit up within her night vision. Her door creeped open as she pushed it and a loud creak sounded throughout the building. Mai cursed herself and decided not to close it till she was back.
She used the stairs as quietly as possible and made it to the kitchen. After filling her glass of water, a loud bang sounded throughout the room. Mai's heart dropped and the glass slipped from her hand.
Bakugou tossed in his bed. His usual heavy sleep was replaced with one of uncomfort. He could hear every noise that went on for some reason. When the ping noise sounded from his phone, he immediately assumed it was his mother sending a funny video late at night as she usually would.
When he heard the small crash from downstairs his eyes snapped open. He could hear footsteps immediately after and they suddenly stopped outside his and Mai's room. Remembering what the teachers explained to him in the hospital about Mai, the boy jumped from his bed, ready to fend off whatever came for him or the girl across the hall who he assumed was sleeping soundly.
When a light knock tapped against his room, he raised a brow in confusion but raised his hand anyways. He swung the door open- ready to fight before he dropped his hand abruptly.
"I'm sorry." The girl in front of him rubbed a tear from her eye. Bakugou's face softened immediately. "Mai? What's wrong?" The boys questioned worriedly. "I'm so scared. You were the only person I could think of. I'm sorry." Mai whispered, rubbing another tear from her eye.
The boy sighed with relief and tilted his head at the girl. "Really? The girl who took down the league of villains is scared?" He questioned quietly. "It's not just me I'm scared for." She lifted her head to make eye contact with the blonde in front of her.
Bakugou could see her teary blue eyes in the darkness. He wanted to yell at the girl in front of him, shout in her face that he's not weak and she doesn't have to worry about him because he's stronger than her.
But for once, he thought twice about what he would say. "That won't ever happen again. You don't have to worry about me." He spoke calmly. A tear dropped from the girls eye and Bakugou sighed. "Come on." Mai tilted her head questionably.
