Mom
Ara is expanding her business to Seoul, South Korea. Do assist her if she needs your help, Chayoung.I stared at the text long enough to believe that it was actually happening. That the reality of my past was coming back to South Korea. Fuck this shit. I wanted this text to disappear. I wanted to rewind time before I came to know this news. God really had his timing. Jungwon was sleeping in the room. And Ara was coming back into my life.
Song Ara was my childhood... I won't say friend, but I won't say enemy as well. But, she had a problem. Ara loved knowing people's weaknesses and won't shy to use it against them which was why I didn't trust her to call my friend. If she were to need something from me, she won't hesitant once to use her tactics to get the work down. Her nick name was psychopath in my dictionary.
"Ah I'm hungry now." Jungwon's small voice mumbled behind me, and I turned the phone screen off. "Why didn't you wake me up?" He asked and dropped himself beside me.
The staff members aligned to set the plates. I turned to Jungwon and ruffled his hair. "You looked like you needed that nap," I told him and he pouted. "What?"
"I wasted an hour in sleeping -"
"Hey, sleeping is not a waste of time. It's a treasure in our working line." I placed the napkin over my lap and he frowned before following me. "Enjoy the meal, baby leader."
"Why are we eating as if it's a formal meeting?" Jungwon looked around and then smiled at the staff members who only looked ahead and didn't return his smile. "Thank you for serving us." No reply was given.
"They won't talk to you. Eat your food," I stated and his frown deepened. "My grandpa gifted me this house on my 13th birthday. It was officially signed to me after I turned 18. To answer your confusion, my father was against any contact with commoners. He thought people could take advantage of me if I gave in."
"You shifted to this place at 18?"
"14. When I joined YG, I shifted to this place." I shrugged. "It has all the facilities. There is even an arcade-"
"And you had no human contact." Jungwon stared at me as if I was crazy. "You came back from practices and stayed in this place alone? Like you were not allowed to talk to even the staff members, right?"
"It wasn't a big deal. I like peaceful places." I gestured him to eat. "Chef made it, you better eat before food turns cold."
We ate in silence after that. I didn't understand his shock. Shouldn't the silence be normalised or appreciated? When I told this to Ae-Cha one time, even she gave me a shocked reaction. Was I weird? Or did I just come to cope up with the way I was asked to live?
After dinner, I took Jungwon to Arcade section and he played a lot of games. Jungwon kept pointing out how his members would have been teasing and competing if they were here. He kept telling me each member's favorite game and how they used to play and have fun around. I made sure he had fun and with the way he laughed wholeheartedly after winning over me made me feel better.
Knowing Ae-Cha, I knew how leader thing worked. Jungwon became a leader at a very young age, and I knew how much he missed out on things because Ae-Cha went through the same. Somewhere I wanted to make it up for him. For all the times, he placed others over his happiness, I wanted to do the same for him. For as long as I could.
