Song Ara was a fraud.

Anyone who had been enough close to her would know better than to be vulnerable with her. Sunghoon was committing a mistake by letting her know something so personal to him. I was standing with my back against the wall as Sunghoon went on and on about his school experience with Choi Heejin aka Silver. Apparently they had a bad blood between them.

"Do you want me to take your revenge?" Ara asked. Sunghoon took her words as a joke as he chuckled. I didn't. Her face clearly told me she would do just that if he asked her to. "Hoonie. You can't run. It means you're afraid, and you're not. Stay in the party."

I walked away when my phone started buzzing. It was Jay. I frowned and looked back at Ara before picking up the call. "Jay." I greeted, feeling a little awkward. I wondered if Jungwon had told him about us. Was he calling to scold me?

"Can you come to the parking lot? I'm here." With that he hung up. I thought he had a schedule? That's why Sunghoon was here, no? I escaped the sea of guests somehow and went to the designated place. Jay was leaning against the car, his eyes looking around carefully before settling on me. "You didn't tell Ara about me, right?"

Interesting. "No. I have not. Yet." I crossed my arms around myself. "If this is about Jungwon-"

"He didn't tell me." Jay cut me off. "I know it's over, whatever it was between you two, but Jungwon never told me the reason. Neither Ara. Don't worry about it."

I sighed and looked away. "Why are you with Ara?"

"Why did you hide the fact that you've known Ara almost your whole life?" He stepped forward. "I saw your photos, the one in front of piano, you two can't be older than 8-9 years. So why?"

"Because... Because we're not friends. We're not anything. We're just two people who were unfortunate enough to be acquainted with each other. That's all." I stared at him. "My question is same. Why are you with Ara?"

"Why can't I be with Ara?" He raised his brows and I let out a sarcastic laugh.

"There has to be something she has over your head. No person in their right mind could be with her. She has had flings but they never got close enough to see the real her, but you... I know you know her real self."

Jay stared back for a moment and then ran a hand down his face. "When did I slip?"

"At the birthday party. You were inconsistent with your expressions." I shrugged. "I noticed because I was watching you like a hawk. I don't think anyone else caught up. What are you doing though?"

"It's something between me and her. I want to know something. What triggers her?"

I blinked. "Trigger?"

"She's always smiling, mocking as if nothing can crack her cold calculating mask. For once I want her to react." Jay lowered his cap. "I want to know her weaknesses too."

"She has already played her cards with Jungwon. So, I will help you one time." I looked at my hands and then at Jay. "She's considered a piano prodigy. If you made her mess up her notes, she'll be out to kill you."

Jay considered my suggestion with a frown. "Seriously? Messing up notes. That could make her upset, but give me something-"

"You've no idea how much Ara has practiced on piano. She's too good. I don't even think you'll be able to make her mess up, but yeah that's the only thing I'm giving away. I don't have a death wish."

He sighed. "Alright. Give me something more when she screws up again with you and Jungwon."

"Deal." My eyes moved around the place. "I'll go back to party either Ara will grow suspicious." He nodded, and I left him there. We stayed for another half an hour or so before heading back. Ara took Sunghoon back to the dorms while Kevin came with me back to my place.
