"Slow down, slow down. I'll spell it out for you."
"You're totally rambling."
"No, I'm not."
"You lost me."
"Look, you know how you're having a dream, and in the dream you gotta pee." Tony started as the two of us slowed from our run, the billionaire having wanted me to test out the new leg he made me.
"Yeah."
"Okay. And then you're like, "Oh my god. There's no bathrooms. What am I gonna do?"
"Right." I nodded, playing into his madness.
"Oh, someone's watching. I'm gonna pee my pants-"
"And then you wake up and in real life you actually have to pee."
"Yes." Tony cheered, moving to walk backward.
"Yeah."
"Okay."
"Everybody has that."
"Right, that's the point I'm trying to make. Apropos of that, last night I dreamt we had a kid. You and me. It was so real."
"Tony, we pretty much already have three kids." I looked at him strangely as he made us stop walking.
"You know what I mean. But, but we named him after Rhodey."
"Right."
"But the name would obviously be James."
"So you woke up and..."
"Naturally."
"...thought that we were..."
"Expecting." Tony filled in.
"Yeah." I nodded with a smile on my face.
"Yes?"
"No." I quickly shook my head.
"I had a dream about it. It was so real." Tony exclaimed.
"If you wanted to have a kid," I untied the sleeves around Tony's chest. "You wouldn't have done that." I tapped the new arc reactor in his chest.
"I'm glad you brought this up, 'cause it's nothing. It's just a housing unit for nanoparticles. Your leg is partially made out of them!"
"And while I greatly appreciate the fancy new leg, you're not really helping your case, okay?"
"No, no this is detachable. It's not a..."
"You don't need that. I need a leg."
"I know, I had the surgery. You were there with me. I'm just trying to protect us and the kids... and future usses and that's it. Just in case there's a monster in the closet. Instead of, you know..."
"Shirts." I nodded.
"You know me so well."
"Oh, god." I sighed.
"You finish all my sentences." Tony gently shook my arms.
"You should have shirts in your closet."
"Yeah. You know what there should be? No more surprises. We're gonna have a nice dinner tonight. Harley's fine on his own, Morgan's with Pepper for school, and Peters with May. Show off this Harry Winston." He held my left hand up, making me chuckle. "Right? And we should have no more surprises. Ever. I should promise you."
