"How are things with the car going?" I asked Tony, finishing up lunch.
"Good, they're good. Auntie is still insistent on not putting it on the market, so we're gonna build a special restricted-access garage for her to store it. Along with any other toys her crazy mind can come up with when she's bored."
"She's not bored, Tony. She's lonely. I keep telling you, I think we should invite her over more often."
"And what, rub it in her face even more that we were able to be that 1% that was able to at least kinda move on? That we were still able to be together? She's already been through enough in her life, Peg, I don't wanna make it worse."
I sighed, my hands resting on the counter in front of me. "You're right, you're right. Um, can you please go grab Howie? He's playing out back."
"Yeah, sure." Tony agreed, walking up and kissing my head before going outside.
I heard the sound of a car door shutting as I finished setting the table, Tony carrying Howie in a moment later.
"Hey. Did I hear a car door? Is Oliv here? Or one of the kids? I didn't think it was a school holiday." I asked.
"Um, no. It's uh..."
"Aunt Nat is here with Uncle Steve and some guy." Howie filled in for his father.
"What are they doing here?"
"Beats me." Tony rubbed the back of his head. "Um, you stay inside with momma. I'm gonna go have a chat with the other grown-ups." He said to the five-year-old.
"Hold on, take this." I filled up a pitcher and placed it and four cups on a tray. "It's a long ride from the compound. And tell them they're welcome to stay for lunch."
Tony nodded, taking the tray from me and heading outside.
"Alright, Howie hun. Go wash your hands since you've been playing outside."
"But they're all clean, see!" The brunette boy cheered, wiping his shirt on his hands before lifting them up to show me.
"Nice try, kid. Go wash."
"Harley lied. That never works." I heard the kid mumble as he stormed to the bathroom.
Harley was still at MIT, working on his last year, and Morgan was now a freshman at Stanford, working towards getting an MBA. He's now 21 while Morgan is 18.
"Hey, honey?" I softly said as I heard a voice raising, Howie walking over to me. "You wanna go help save your daddy?"
"Yeah!" He cheered, a big smile on his face as he made his way outside onto the porch.
It didn't take much longer for them to come back inside, leaving the other three to go back to their car.
"They're not staying for lunch?"
Tony just shook his head, sitting Howie down in his seat. "I'll tell you later."
I nodded in understanding, glancing at our son before putting everyone's plates in front of them. As I started to sit down, my phone started to ring, and I pulled it out to see it was Morgan.
"Hey, Monkey, what's up? Everything okay?"
"Yeah, it's just I heard from Cassy, and apparently her dad's back! Isn't-" I let Morgan ramble a bit as I slowly pulled the phone from my ear, staring at Tony.
"Tony, was the other man that was just here Scott Lang?"
"Yeah. Why?"
I sighed as I put the phone up to my ear, cutting off the girl's rambles.
