"All right, the glove's ready. Question is, who's gonna snap their freakin' fingers?" Rocket asked, looking between the group of heroes.

"I'll do it." Thor offered.

"Excuse me?"

"It's okay."

"Hey, hey hey." "Stop, stop. Slow down." Tony and I tried to stop Thor as he barreled toward the new gauntlet.

"Thor. Just wait. We haven't decided who's gonna put that on yet." Steve said.

"I'm sorry. What, we're all just sitting around waiting for the right opportunity?"

"We should at least discuss it." Scott tried.

"Look, look, sitting here staring at the thing is not gonna bring everybody back. I'm the strongest Avenger, okay?"

"Hey now..." I frowned.

"So this responsibility falls on me."

"Normally, you're right." Tony stepped up.

"It's my duty."

"It's not about that."

"It's not that-"

"Hey, buddy..."

"Stop it! Just let me... Just let me do it. Just let me do something good. Something right."

"Look, it's not just the fact that that glove is channeling enough energy to light up a continent. I'm telling you. You're in no condition."

"What do you think is coursing through my veins right now?"

"Cheez Whiz?" Rhodey said, and I had to hold back a laugh.

"Lightning."

"Yeah."

"Lightning."

"Lightning won't help you, pal," Bruce told the god, moving toward the glove. "It's gotta be me. You saw what those stones did to Thanos. They almost killed him. None of you could survive."

"How do we know you will?" I asked.

"We don't. But the radiation's mostly gamma. It's like...I was made for this."

All of us silently agreed, watching as Bruce picked up the glove.

"Good to go, yeah?" Tony asked.

"Let's do it."

"Okay, remember, everyone Thanos snapped away five years ago, you're just bringing them back to now, today. Don't change anything from the last five years."

"Got it."

Everyone prepared themselves as Bruce examined the gantlet. Steve picked up his shield, hiding behind it. Scott got his suit on, as well as Rhodey. Rocket moved behind Thor and Clint and I stayed behind Tony, who created his own shield to cover us with once in his own suit.

"Friday, do me a favor and activate Barn Door Protocol, will ya?"

"Yes, boss." The A.I. agreed, and a moment later all the doors and windows were barred in large hunks of metal.

"Everybody comes home," Bruce repeated, slowly putting the glove onto his hand.

My eyes widened as the giant fell to one knee, clutching his gloved hand, which was now glowing different colors from the stones, the energy running up his arm and burning his shirt and skin.
