~Avery~

"Still no word from Vision?" Secretary Ross asked, Rhodey and I sitting and talking with the man over a hologram projection, showing said man sitting with other suited old men around a conference table.

"Satellites lost him somewhere over Edinburgh," Rhodey told him.

"On a stolen Quinjet with four of the world's most wanted criminals."

"You know they're only criminals because you've chosen to call them that, right, sir?" I crossed my arms over my chest.

"My god, Lynn. Your talent for horseshit rivals my own. You really are a good match for Stark."

"If it weren't for those Accords Vision would've been right here," Rhodey argued.

"Then what about the Lynn Accords, huh? They all signed that, and yet he's still not here." The Secretary of State looked up, walking over to stand in front of us.

"That's because you turned the people against them. No one wants to be saved by people labeled the World's Most Wanted Criminals." I gave the old man a pointed look, making him stare down at me.

"They gave that title to themselves when they went against the Sokovia Accords."

"But you made it so they couldn't come back even after fixing things."

Rhodey nudged me out of my staring contest with Ross, nodding to the newcomers walking threw the doorway.

"Mr. Secretary." Steve Rogers greeted the hologram man.

"You got some nerve. I'll give you that." He walked up to them.

"You could use some of that right now." Natasha cocked her head to the side.

"The world's on fire. And you think all is forgiven?"

"I thought forgiveness was given when we sighed Lynns Accords."

"Well, you thought wrong, Romanoff."

"That's okay. Cause I'm not looking for forgiveness. And I'm way past asking for permission. Earth just lost her best defender. So we're here to fight. And if you wanna stand in our way, we'll fight you too."

Ross turned to Rhodey and me once Steve was done with his speech, his face hard. "Arrest them."

"Yeah, all over it." Rhodey rolled his eyes, getting rid of the hologram that took up half the lab.

"That might as well be a court marshal, though I'd never let it get close to seeing the light of day." I shrugged, looking at the team of beat-up heroes. "It's great to see you guys."

"You too, Avery. Good to see you're doing well too, Rhodey." Steve pulled me into a quick hug.

"Never been better." The man beside me smiled as he and the captain shook hands.

"Nat, love the blond." I smiled, the two of us moving into an even tighter hug than my one with Rogers.

"Wow. You guys really look like crap." Rhodey sighed, making me chuckle in agreement. "Must have been a rough couple years."

"Yeah, well, the hotels weren't exactly five-star," Sam smirked, the man helping Wanda hold Vision up.

"Uh, I think you look great." All of us turned around to the other side of the room, seeing Bruce slowly walk over. "Yeah, I'm back." He chuckled.

"Hi, Bruce."

"Nat."

"This is awkward," Sam muttered behind us as I gave the now-blond's hand a reassuring squeeze.
