Bruce was the one able to drag me out of my lab.
I had been continuing my search for Tony with no luck when the doctor burst into the room, babbling about a device that was found wherever Fury last was. The thing looked to be an old pager that, when it was found, was seeming to send out a signal of some sort.
But Bruce just told me that the signal died.
"What have you tried?" I asked as we walked back into the lab.
"Well, I don't really know what much I could even do. The battery doesn't seem to be dead, since we bypassed it." He shrugged.
I looked at the device in confusion, trying to think of what could be done.
"Maybe it's time we open it up. See what kind of tech was in there that kept it alive this long in the first place. Maybe that'll also tell us who this signal is going to in the first place."
"I don't think Cap would be too thrilled about that..."
"Do I look like I give a shit what Steve thinks?" I blanked at the doctor, who held his hands up in surrender.
"I'm just saying, maybe we should get another opinion on this."
"Another opinion on what?" Rhodes asked, walking into the room.
"The communicator blanked. We were thinking of what to do with it." I explained.
"You want me to grab the others for you?" He asked.
"Please." Bruce nodded, and we watched as the man walked back out of the room.
"What do we got?" Natasha sighed as soon as she, Steve, and Rhodey walked into the lab.
"Whatever signal it was sending finally crapped out," I told them.
"I thought we bypassed the battery," Steve asked.
"We did. It's still plugged in. It just... stopped." Bruce explained.
"Reboot it. Send the signal again." The Captain ordered.
"We don't even know what this is." Rhodey voiced his concern.
"Fury did. Just do it, please." Nat said. "You tell me the second you get a signal. I wanna know who's on the other end of that thing."
The woman turned around, but froze before she even took a step towards the door.
"Where's Fury and Liv?"
I turned around at the new voice, seeing a woman with short blond hair and a red and blue suit, hints of gold detailing it.
"How do you know Fury?"
"How do you know Liv?" Natasha and I asked at the same time.
"Hold on, who are you?" Steve butted in before the woman could answer.
"Carol Danvers. Fury and Liv were... work friends."
"Fury didn't really have "work friends"." Nat narrowed her eyes.
"Liv did. How did you know her?" I asked again.
"No, I answered your question, you answer mine. Where's Fury and Liv?" The angry-looking blond asked again.
"They were some of the people dusted from Thanos's snap. People here are slowly starting to call it the "Blip"." Bruce told her, pushing his glasses up his nose.
"That happened here?" Danvers frowned more, her hand starting to glow, causing me to wave my hand so her glowing one went behind her back and away from us.
"What was that?" I yelled, stepping in front of my family.
"I could ask the same," She grunted, trying to pull her hand back to her side.
"I can control people's blood, which also extends to metals. Haven't tried water yet. You?"
"Nice. I can absorb energy and project it in photonic form. Can also fly." She shrugged.
"Oh my god that's so cool!" My eyes widened as I let go of the woman's arm.
"You not too bad yourself." She smirked.
"What is happening?" I heard Rhodey mumble.
"Hold on, did you say flying?" I shook my head as an idea popped up. "How far does that extend?"
"Like how far can I go?" She clarified, and I quickly nodded my head. "Well, I flew here from another planet a good ways away. Why?"
"I know we just met two seconds ago, but I kinda have a favor to ask."
~~
"Oliv, I don't know how much we can trust her. I mean, we don't even know how she knows Fury and Liv." Steve mumbled to me as we walked through the halls of the compound.
"Well, they knew her and trusted her enough to have a communicator. I'd say that gives her some points." I shrugged.
"But trusting her to find Tony? We don't even have an idea of where he could be!" He pulled on my arm, stopping me from continuing down the halls.
"I've already talked to the raccoon about that. I tried to talk to Thor, but he's still held up in his room. Rocket's giving an estimate of where he could be now." I told the man, yanking my arm from his grip and continuing our walk, finding Rocket and Captain Marvel talking amongst themselves while the others watched.
"So, did he give you a good estimate? Think you could do it?" I hopefully asked the Captian.
"I think so. You'll have to give me some time, though. It's... a pretty broad search." She nodded.
"I don't care. As long as you try your best to find him."
"I'll do my best for Liv and Fury's family."
Natasha walked Carol out of the compound while I went back to my lab, preparing to call Avery and give her the news.
We may finally be able to get Tony back.
