POV: Skylar
I've never felt more spoiled in my entire life. If I even looked at something for half a second, Darleen would buy it for me. New shirt? No problem. Want to get your hair done? Easy peasy. Want to rent out an entire ramen house just for the two of us for a couple of hours? No big deal.
I've never been so showered in luxury and money before. Is it bad that I kind of like it? I mean at first I tried to stay humble and avoid spending money that wasn't my own but... there was this super cute stuffed cat I wanted. I was out of money, Darleen offered. Then it was all downhill from there. Soon she was showering me with gifts.
I didn't realize how overboard we were going until,
"268,173 dollars! Holy smokes." I eye the check Darleen got for our sushi dinner.
"Relax, it's in Yen. It's only about two thousand in American money." She brushes it off.
"Darleen! You should have told me it was getting expensive. We didn't have to try all those sushi rolls."
"It's fine, no big deal. Besides that caviar one was sooo good." She quickly pays.
Between the sushi, the sake, and the dessert it was easy to see how we racked up such a high bill. We didn't even eat most of it, just got it to try it. I feel bad now. I don't like to be wasteful. But here we were, wasting food and money.
"Relax, it's fine. Just one of the perks of dating me." she wraps me in her arms when she sees my worried expression.
Am I Grayson material?
I don't want to become one of those snobby people who no longer know the price of eggs because they are so rich. Yet it was all too easy to spend money that wasn't mine to spend. Is Darleen's birth mother right about me?
"From now on no more overspending. There are plenty of other things to do that don't cost money. We should go see the cherry blossoms or just relax at the hotel for the day. No need to spend any more money." I say.
"You're cute." She laughs, not taking me seriously.
I sigh in defeat.
We get a ride back to our hotel and go up to the room, Darleen paid to have all our shopping bags delivered for us while we went to eat. All my new and expensive things are waiting for me on the hotel bed.
Seeing the bags covering the whole bed and some even on the ground next to the bed made me feel gross about myself.
That's it. No more spending for me.
I shouldn't take advantage of Darleen.
"Come on, let's head out to the bath house. I want to wind down for the night." Darleen says.
"I don't want to go to the bathhouse. I don't want to be naked in front of other people." I pout.
"It's fine, we don't have to worry about that. I got us a private one. Just the two of us."
"Darleen," I sigh.
"Come on," She grabs my arm and tugs me with her to the bathhouse.
When we get there we leave our clothes in a cubby and put on robes and slippers before walking outside to the steaming tubs. True to her word we have the whole area to ourselves. Darleen quickly strips out of her robe and slips into the water. I look around to make sure we truly are alone, before doing the same.
"mmm much better," Darleen closes her eyes and sinks deeper into the hot water.
I let out a heavy breath, my stress fading by the second.
