POV: Darleen

"Are you sure you don't need help?" Lexi asks Kenzie as she drags me up the stairs.

"I—Ugh—got it. She's not that heavy." Kenzie struggles as I stumble all over the place.

"If someone is offering help, I'll take some." Andrea struggles to get a drunk Jade up the stairs behind me.

"Geez, what happened," Lexi says.

"Don't ask, for god's sake don't ask." Wini sighs.

"I'm not even drunk," I slur and stumble forward.

"Come on," Kenzie helps me to my room.

"Where's Skylar," I hear Jade pout.

I stumble into the room and collapse on the bed.

"You know I'm pretty buzzed too, I'm just better at hiding it." Kenzie sits next to me.

"Fuck Skylar," I mumble into the pillow.

She giggles and runs her fingers through my hair. It feels nice.

"Okay, water, and shoes." Kenzie gets up again after a moment.

I turn my head and watch her stumble into the bathroom. She's definitely a little drunk, probably not as drunk as me though.

I force myself to sit up before getting up and walking into the bathroom with her. She is filling a cup with water.

"I'll bring it to you," She assures me. "Just go sit down."

"You know all I want is for someone to look at me the way Skylar looks at Jade, is that too much to ask for?" I say.

"Go lay down," She tries to push me away.

"I just want to look in her eyes and see it," I grab Kenzie by the chin and force her to meet my eyes. "See how much she loves me."

We stare at each other for a moment until the water in the glass runs over from the facet causing Kenzie to jolt back. She grabs the cup but it slips out of her hands and crashes to the ground getting water everywhere.

"Oh gosh, sorry," she bends down to pick it up.

"I got it," I kneel down to help but end up falling over into the mess.

She picks up the cup but again it slips from her hands and rolls behind me. She moves to get it but slips and falls on top of me.

I laugh.

She giggles.

"Forget it," I slur out. "Let's just sleep here." I wrap my arms around her.

"But you're all wet." She giggles.

"Fuck it," I let my head fall back into the water.

She laughs.

"Fuck it," she mimics and relaxes into me.

We lay there for a while, the sound of the running faucet and the harsh lighting keeping me from falling asleep.

I wonder what Skylar is doing.

Is she okay?

I am pretty sure I drunk-dialed her so much that my phone died. She probably has a 100 drunk voicemails from me.

"I've never been in love either," Kenzie says out of nowhere.

"Hmm?" I turn my head to look at her.

"I just... take whatever comes my way. Settle. I was like you. I used to get so jealous of Jade and Skylar. Jealous of how Skylar looked at Jade, I've always wanted what they had. That need consumed me for a while. Drove a giant wedge between me and my family. I used to hate Jade for it. I just want that too." She rests her head on my chest.
