POV: Skylar
It's like as soon as Darleen and I agreed to a real relationship with each other, the universe decided it didn't agree. And suddenly everything that could go wrong, every problem we'd have to face as a couple, everything that could come between us... did.
As if the world was mocking me.
Reminding me, I can't ever just have a simple, happy relationship.
I guess I should rewind a bit, ever since Darleen and I made it official we've kind of been couped up in the mansion constantly making love. Not that I'm complaining. I just sort of lost touch with the outside world for a little bit.
True to her word, Darleen dropped out of Ivy School and has applied to transfer to my school next fall. She can't transfer to school this upcoming spring semester because she missed the deadline. But she says a semester off is no big deal.
True to my word, I had a talk with Vida and told her we could only be just friends and that Darleen and I were going to try to make it work between us. She was hurt but agreed. I'll admit I felt bad, watching Vida let herself suffer for my sake, just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. But what can I do? The girl is in love with me.
Since Darleen and I were so wrapped around each other, we lost track of time.
"Stop it, that tickles," I laugh as Darleen glides her nails down my abs.
"Hmm, well what about this?"
I moan loudly as she goes down on me.
That's when the doorbell rings.
We freeze, then glance at the time. Just past noon.
That's when I look at the date, the day before the Christmas party!
"Hello!?" We hear the front door open.
"Shit!" Darleen curses and quickly jumps up, slamming the door to the room shut so we can get decent.
"Is that a dog!? Ah! Darleen!"
All the hairs on my arms stand up. It's Darleen's horrible, obnoxious, aunt. The person in her family who hates me the most.
"Uh, just a second!" Darleen calls, quickly putting her clothes on.
"Is that your aunt!? The one that hates me!?" I jump out of the bed and find my clothes.
"Darleen! Ah! Get it away!" I hear her scream and Ace bark in playfulness.
Her voice sounds closer.
"I swear I didn't invite her," Darleen defends herself when she can feel me glaring daggers at her.
"Why is there a dog in my house!"
No sooner do we make ourselves decent than did the bedroom door swing open.
Darleen quickly straightens out her shirt and looks up at her, her face flush with embarrassment.
They lock eyes, it's clear she caught us in the middle of something. Soon her eyes drift over to me. Her reaction is instant, a face of pure confusion and disgust. I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt. It stings all over, fresh rejection. Even after all these years, the woman still can't stand me.
Darleen quickly puts herself between us.
"W-what are you doing here?" Darleen runs a hand through her soft blonde locks, obviously flustered.
Ace runs into the room and over to me, barking in excitement. He likes meeting new people. I pick him up and he licks my face, causing me to giggle.
"It's my house, do I need an excuse to show up?" Darleen's horrible Aunt Matilda narrows her eyes at us.
