POV: Skylar

Turns out Kenzie didn't go with Jade after all, she just said she did. She was actually staying at a nearby hotel with the help of Jade. Once I asked her if we could talk, on behalf of Darleen, she agreed to meet me at Jade's house, my current place of residence.

I called her as soon as Darleen left.

I need answers for my own peace of mind. Even though I don't think what Darleen did was rape, it doesn't matter what I think. It happened to Kenzie, and she gets to say what happened, and if she says it's rape. Then it's rape. Plain and simple.

Kenzie arrived just before midnight. I guess she wanted to be sure Darleen wasn't hanging around to ambush her or something. I let her in and led her to the couch.

"I'm guessing Darleen told you what happened," She says.

"She did," I say.

"Skylar I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't have slept with her, especially after all you did for me. I'm terrible, I feel awful about it," She covers her face.

I scrunch my brows in confusion.

"Please don't stop being my friend. I'm sorry. So, so, sorry. I stopped talking to Darleen. I am staying away from her, honest. I don't want to get between you two."

"Wait, you stopped talking to Darleen because you were afraid I would get mad?" I ask.

"Yes, I'm so sorry."

I sigh in relief.

"Wait, aren't you mad?" she asks.

"Kenzie," I grab her hands in mine. "That's not why I called you here."

"It's not?" she says in confusion.

"Well, it is, but not because I'm mad. Because... I'm concerned. Darleen was pretty messed up about what happened. Could barely get the words out without crying."

"Wait, I'm confused. Why are you concerned about me?" she says.

"Mackenzie," I say slowly. "Darleen thinks she raped you."

Mackenzie's eyes get as big as saucers.

"She asked me to talk to you to see how you felt about it. To see if you thought the same."

"She thinks she..."

"Yeah. She said whatever you say, she'll agree to it. If you say she did... she said she'll turn herself in. She thinks you are not talking to her because you are mad and disgusted by what happened."

"Oh..." Mackenzie drops my hands.

"Darleen said she was pretty messed up and kept pushing you when you said you wanted to stop. For Darleen, the line got pretty blurry, especially when you weren't in bed with her the next morning and said what happened between you two was no better than a booty call. She's falling to pieces because she thinks that you think she... raped you."

Kenzie scrunches her brows together.

"So," I grab her hands in mine again. "I am going to ask the question, and I want you to answer honestly. Don't be afraid to say your truth. I won't get mad. Okay?"

She nods.

"Are you ready for me to ask it?"

"I'm ready." She says.

"Do you think what happened between you and Darleen was rape?"

"No," she says instantly, and I'm flooded with relief.
