POV: Darleen
I turn over in bed and see Skylar still out cold, I smile and ruffle her hair. She's so cute when she's sleeping. Mackenzie's officially lived with us for a week, and while we had to adjust there haven't been any major problems. Tonight, was the first time Skylar and I got to get intimate since she's been here.
I sit up and stretch, letting the blanket fall down onto my lap exposing my nude chest.
Skylar didn't want to have sex with Kenzie in the house, but I told her Kenzie was all the way on the other side of the house, so she wouldn't hear us. We bickered about it for a while before I finally had to use one of my Skylar passes to shut her up and have sex with me. I knew she really wanted to, the girl has been pent up, once we got in the grove of things she was practically begging me to keep going. I knew she needed a little bit of intimate time. She needed to relax and de-stress.
I turn and look down at her, her back is exposed and her shoulder blades protrude as she squeezes the life out of her pillow. I chuckle and cover her up before getting up to make breakfast.
I pull on a T-shirt and some underwear before slipping my pajama pants back on, shoving my feet into some slippers, and making my way downstairs. Ace is asleep by the stairs. I can tell he fell asleep playing with the cats because, at the bottom of the stairs, Cloud is all spread out and sleeping.
Cuties.
The Countess must be with Kenzie.
I yawn as I turn on the kitchen light and flinch when the light illuminates Kenzie's sleeping form. She fell asleep on the floor by the fridge. The countess lies next to her.
"Jesus, what the fuck, Kenzie." I shake her awake.
"Huh!?" she jolts awake.
"Kenzie what the fuck? Are you okay? What are doing sleeping on the floor in the kitchen? Is something wrong with your room?" I help her off the floor.
She blinks the sleep from her eyes and wipes at her face to wake herself up.
The Countess stretches out and brushes against my leg before walking off.
"Sorry," Kenzie says still half asleep.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, sorry. Sometimes it's hard for me to fall asleep in a bed."
"Oh, well I can put a couch in your room if you want," I say.
"No, the floor is fine. It's colder."
"Is it too hot in here? I can turn the heater off." I say.
"No, no, it's okay. I'm okay. You don't understand, it's okay." She begins to walk off.
"Kenzie help me understand, I want to make you comfortable. Not find you asleep in the kitchen. Were you there all night?" I follow her.
"Well not all night... I just... I was uncomfortable. I couldn't sleep."
"Why?"
"Sometimes..." she pauses by the living room couch. "When Jean would get mad at me. She'd lock me up in this room. No blankets, no pillows, no nothing. Just an empty room. I'd have to sleep in there and stay in there until she let me out."
My eyes go wide.
"I'm fine, really!" She reads the alarm on my face. "I just got used to sleeping on the floor I guess."
"Kenzie—"
"Don't look at me like that okay, I'm fine. Really, fine. I'm sorry, it won't happen again."
