A/N
I turned this into a short story on both Wattpad and Ao3! On Wattpad, you can find it in my Total Drama Shorts book, and it's titled Orion's Belt. However, instead of it being about Cody, it's about Geoff and Gwen :) Feel free to check it out if you would like to. Thanks for reading!
Prompt:
You had been feeling down for a while, and it seemed like there was no escape from the negative thoughts that had been plaguing your mind. You had tried everything from journaling to meditating, but nothing seemed to work. That's when your friend, Cody, stepped in.
"C'mon, let's hang out tonight. It'll be fun!" Cody suggested during lunch period.
You're hesitant at first, but something in Cody's eyes convinced you to give it a shot. "Okay, sure. What did you have in mind?"
Cody grinned mischievously. "It's a surprise. I'll pick you up at 9."
You raised an eyebrow at the late hour, but Cody had simply shrugged it off.
At 8:55, you found yourself nervously waiting outside your house, wondering what Cody had planned. Just as the clock struck 9, Cody's car pulled up in front of your driveway.
"Hey, hop in!" Cody greeted you with a wave.
You got into the car and buckled up, eager to find out where Cody was taking you. After a few minutes of driving in silence, Cody finally spoke up.
"I know you've been going through a tough time lately, and I wanted to do something to take your mind off things."
You felt a lump form in your throat at Cody's kindness. "Thanks, Cody. I really appreciate it."
Cody glanced over at you and smiled. "No problem. Now, close your eyes. We're almost there."
You obeyed, feeling a thrill of excitement run through you. After a few more minutes of driving, Cody finally pulled over to the side of the road.
"Okay, open your eyes!" Cody exclaimed, jumping out of the car.
You looked around, confused. You were in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but fields and trees surrounding you.
"What are we doing here?" you asked, feeling a bit uneasy.
Cody walked to the back of the car and pulled out a blanket. "We're going stargazing!" he exclaimed, spreading the blanket on the ground.
You couldn't help but smile at Cody's enthusiasm. As you lay down on the blanket next to Cody, you felt your worries start to fade away. Above you, the sky was a canvas of stars, each one twinkling like a tiny diamond.
"Wow," you breathed, feeling a sense of wonder wash over you.
Cody chuckled. "Yeah, it's pretty amazing, isn't it?"
For the next hour, you and Cody lay on the blanket, gazing up at the stars and chatting about everything and anything. You talked about school, your families, your dreams for the future. It felt like the weight of the world had been lifted off your shoulders, and you were just two friends enjoying each other's company.
As the night wore on, you started to feel sleepy. You yawned and stretched, feeling content and relaxed.
"Thanks, Cody," you said, turning to your friend. "This was exactly what I needed."
Cody smiled back at you. "I'm here for, Y/N. Always."
Questions to keep in mind as you envision yourself interacting with Cody:
Why were you mentally drained? Was it because of your mental health, family/friend issues, or were you stressed with school? How close are you with Cody? What were you wearing when Cody picked you up? Are you a fan of the stars? What were your thoughts when you arrived at the field?
