Prompt:

The party was in full swing, but you weren't really in the mood for it. You had never been one for crowds, especially not crowds of sweaty, horny teenagers. So, when your friend Geoff invited you over for his latest bash, you had made a beeline for the bonfire pit at the back of his yard.

A few of your peers had followed suit, and now you were all standing around the flames, chatting and laughing as the night grew darker. You were feeling a bit cold, despite the warmth of the fire, so you rubbed your arms for warmth.

As you talked to DJ and Leshawna about the latest gossip at school, you felt something cover your shoulders. You looked back to see Duncan standing behind you, a small smile on his lips.

"Here," he spoke, holding out his jacket. "You look cold."

You were taken aback. Duncan was pretty notorious at school, and you had never really talked to him before. You didn't know why he would give you his jacket.

"Uh, thanks," you responded, slipping the jacket on and feeling the warmth seep into your bones.

"No problem," Duncan said, taking a seat next to you on the log. "I can tell you're not really feeling the party vibe either."

You smiled at him, surprised at how perceptive he was. "Yeah, I'm not really into the whole sweaty, horny teen thing."

Duncan laughed. "Yeah, honestly, it's not really my scene either. I just came to see some friends and to get out of the house."

You nodded in agreement, feeling a kinship with him that you hadn't expected. As the night wore on, you found yourself talking to Duncan more and more, drawn to his wittiness and his easy smile.

At one point, he leaned in close to you, his breath hot on your cheek. "You know, you're really cool," he whispered.

You felt your heart skip a beat. Duncan was flirting with you, and you weren't sure how to respond. You had never really had a boyfriend before, and you didn't know if you were ready for one now.

But as the night wore on, you found yourself drawn to him more and more. You laughed at his jokes, leaned in close to him as he spoke, and even let him put his arm around you as you watched the fire.

When the party finally wound down, Duncan walked you home, his arm still around your shoulders. As you stood on your doorstep, you turned to face him, feeling a flutter in your stomach.

"Thanks for tonight," you said, looking up at him.

Duncan smiled down at you. "Anytime. Maybe we could do it again sometime?"

You nodded eagerly, feeling a sense of excitement bubbling up inside you. Maybe this was the start of something new, something exciting.

As Duncan leaned in to kiss you, you felt a warmth spread through your body. This was it – the beginning of your teenage romance, the start of something great. And all because he had given you his jacket.

Questions to keep in mind as you envision yourself interacting with other characters:

How close are you with Geoff? What were you wearing the night of the party? Who was all at the bonfire besides you, DJ, Leshawna, and Duncan? What did Duncan's jacket look like?
