Prompt:
It was a sunny afternoon, and you found yourself sitting at a local park, engrossed in a book. As you turned the pages, you heard a group of teenagers laughing and joking nearby. Curiosity got the better of you, and you glanced up to see a familiar face among them—Duncan, the rebel with a heart of gold.
Duncan was known for his rough exterior and mischievous nature, but deep down, everyone knew he had a soft spot. As your eyes met, a mischievous grin spread across his face, and he sauntered over to you.
"Hey there, bookworm," Duncan greeted, leaning casually against the park bench. "What's got you so engrossed?"
You looked up, slightly surprised by his sudden appearance. "Oh, just a good book," you replied with a smile, appreciating his interest. "What brings you here?"
Duncan shrugged, his piercing blue eyes scanning the surroundings. "Just hanging out with my friends, you know. But hey, I noticed you've been avoiding me lately. What's up with that?"
Caught off guard by his directness, you hesitated for a moment. "Well, Duncan, it's not that I've been avoiding you specifically. I've just been busy with work and other commitments."
Duncan's expression turned serious, and he crossed his arms. "Busy, huh? Look, I get it if you're not interested, but don't give me some lame excuse. Just be straight with me."
His words stung, and you felt a mix of frustration and hurt swirling inside you. "Duncan, it's not about not being interested. It's just that sometimes, I feel like you don't take things seriously. Like you're always looking for the next prank or adventure."
Duncan's gaze softened, and he took a step closer. "You think I don't take things seriously? Maybe you just don't see the real me, the one who cares about people. Sure, I may have a rebellious side, but that doesn't mean I don't have a heart."
You looked into his eyes, seeing a vulnerability you hadn't noticed before. "I didn't mean to imply that you don't care, Duncan. It's just sometimes hard to see beyond the tough exterior."
A moment of silence hung in the air as the weight of your words settled between you. Then, unexpectedly, Duncan took a step even closer, his face mere inches from yours. "Maybe it's time I show you the real me, then," he whispered, before closing the distance between your lips.
Surprised, your eyes widened, but you quickly felt a rush of warmth and familiarity. Duncan's kiss was soft and gentle, a surprising contrast to his usual rebellious nature. It was a kiss that spoke volumes, conveying his desire to bridge the gap between you and showcase his vulnerability.
As the kiss lingered, time seemed to stand still, and any lingering doubts or misunderstandings melted away. When Duncan finally pulled back, a small smile played on his lips.
"I guess actions speak louder than words, huh?" he said, his voice laced with sincerity.
You nodded, feeling a newfound connection with Duncan. "Yes, they certainly do. Thank you for showing me this side of you."
Duncan smirked, his usual mischievousness returning. "No problem, bookworm. Just remember, there's more to me than meets the eye."
Questions to keep in mind as you envision yourself interacting with Duncan:
Are you dating Duncan, are you a thing, or are you just friends? How long have you known him for? Do you like him? If yes, how long have you liked him for? Have you ever seen Duncan show his soft side before this happened? What friends was Duncan hanging out with?
