Prompt:

You walked through the bustling hallways of Wawanakwa High, your mind wandering as you searched for Cody. It had been days since you last saw him with Sierra, and you couldn't help but worry about his well-being. Cody was a good friend, and Sierra's obsessive behavior was beginning to take its toll on him.

Finally, you spotted Cody sitting alone in the library, engrossed in a book. You walked over and sat down across from him, noticing his tired eyes and slumped posture. "Hey, Cody," you greeted, trying to sound casual and nonchalant.

Cody looked up from his book, a faint smile appearing on his face. "Hey! What's up?"

You hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to approach the delicate situation. "Cody, I've noticed that Sierra's been getting... well, a little too intense lately. Are you okay?"

Cody sighed and closed his book, running a hand through his hair. "Honestly, I'm not sure. Sierra's always been a bit of a handful, but lately, it's like she's taken her obsession to a whole new level. It's suffocating."

You nodded sympathetically, understanding the weight of his words. "I can only imagine how difficult it must be for you. Is there anything I can do to help?"

Cody's eyes lit up with a glimmer of hope. "Actually, there is something you could do. Could you talk to her? Maybe help her understand that she needs to give me some space?"

You agreed to help, knowing that it was important to support your friend in this challenging situation. The following day, you sought out Sierra during lunch break, finding her sitting alone at a corner table, typing away on her laptop.

"Sierra," you began, sitting down across from her cautiously. "I wanted to talk to you about Cody."

Sierra's eyes widened, and a bright smile spread across her face. "Oh, you noticed? Isn't he just the most amazing guy ever? I know everything about him! Did you know that his favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate chip? And his shoe size is..."

You interrupted her, trying to steer the conversation in a more serious direction. "Sierra, I understand that you really like Cody, but lately, he's been feeling overwhelmed by your constant presence. He needs some space to breathe and be himself."

Sierra's smile faltered, and her eyes filled with tears. "But I just want him to notice me and see how perfect we are together! I've spent so much time studying him, learning everything about him. I thought he'd appreciate that."

You softened your tone, reaching out to her as a friend. "Sierra, it's great that you care about Cody, but sometimes, love means giving someone the freedom to be themselves. Cody needs a chance to grow and explore his own interests without feeling like he's constantly being watched or analyzed."

Sierra wiped away her tears, a mix of sadness and realization crossing her face. "I never thought about it that way. I guess I've been too caught up in my own fantasies to see what Cody really needs. I don't want to suffocate him."

You nodded, relieved that Sierra was starting to understand. "It's never too late to change, Sierra. Give Cody some space, and maybe he'll come to appreciate your friendship in a different light. Let him decide what he wants."

Over the next few weeks, you noticed a change in Sierra's behavior. She began to give Cody the space he needed, focusing on her own hobbies and interests. Slowly but surely, Cody started to regain his confidence and enjoy his time at school once again.

One day, as you sat with Cody in the library, he looked up from his book and smiled. "Thanks, Y/N. I don't know what I would've done without your help. Sierra's still a bit intense, but she's starting to respect my boundaries."

You returned his smile, grateful to have been able to make a difference. "No problem, Cody. Just remember, you deserve to be happy and have your own space. And if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here for you."

Questions to keep in mind as you envision yourself interacting with Cody and Sierra:

Have you ever talked to Sierra about Cody before you called her out on her behavior? Are you closer to Cody than you are to Sierra? Are you even friends with Sierra? Has anyone else noticed Sierra's obsessive behavior? How long has the behavior been going on for?
