Money and power. It was what makes the world go round. Everyone. . .most people get blinded by it. People will do anything in exchange of it. Money is what drives them to fight. Power is the sole reason why they don't give up.
But then great things come with great responsibilities, just like what they all say. Great money and power come also with great greediness and selfishness. They often say things that aren't supposed to be heard and do things that aren't supposed to be made.
On my god, I can't say I've met the worst people but I can certainly confirm that I have met one of the greediest people in the world. I've seen how power took over justice and how money makes everything works and fix broken and shattered pieces of dignity and trust.
It was a disgusting sight but I have learned to deal with it. . .I even played and acted on it myself. But my baby is a different matter. He's on a way different page. I will not let him be blinded by those ugly things.
I want a different life for him. I want something peaceful and calm. . .something that can make him breath freely and do things in his own ways. I want him to live a better life even if it means I'll have to take him away from mom and dad, from all the people who will take advantage of his innocence.
“If you marry him all of his assets will be yours too. And time will come na lahat ng mayroon ka at si Axell ay mapupunta rin namang lahat sa anak ninyo.”
Just like mom, dad has been blabbering things simula pa noong dumating siya. We are eating dinner right now at wala akong ibang narinig sa kanila kundi ang kontrata.
“I heard he is handling a wine company in France, right?” Mom asked. “Is that how you met him there?”
I sighed then slowly shook my head.
“No, mom. I met him. . .somewhere.”
“Oh, I see. It doesn't matter anyway.
The news spread like a wildfire. The next thing I knew my engagement with Caesar was all over the tabloid of the magazines and all over the articles in the internet. I'm guessing it was both our parents who publicize the things between Caesar and I. Mabuti na lang at hindi na nila sinabi na buntis na ako dahil kung nagkataon ay mas lalong malaking issue.
I scrolled on the articles online and my forehead creased when I saw something. It was stated in there that it would be good for both of our companies to join forces and that the Rivera's, which is, me, will only use Dior for our own advantages in the field of business.
It will also not be good for my reputation as a lawyer and a follower of law na may mga ganito akong issues.
“Why are you frowning?” Caesar sat down beside me. “What's wrong, ma chérie?”
Later on, he sighed then took the laptop out of my hand.
“Don't mind this things. It's not true, baby.” Niyakap niya ako at pinatakan ng halik sa noo. “Don't stress yourself about those petty things.”
