Being someone's person

I have always dreamed of being someone's person

 ever since I was a little kid.
I wanted to be the one,

 But as I got older,
I saw how people lie and manipulate you

time and time again to get whatever they want
This means that I will never be someone's person: 

I will always be a placeholder 

until they find the person they truly want
They will make it feel special

 like I'm the one,
As if I'm their person 

In reality, I mean nothing to them
they are using me for their benefit
