"I am so excited about this job," Elliot says from next to me. I was tapping my feet on the floor in anticipation. Today we will be receiving a prospector from the company, which will include all the details regarding the company.
"Me too," I beamed.
"So which country are you expecting?" he solicited. A perplexity drizzled over me.
"Country? What are you talking about?" He looked at me like I just said pig can fly.
"You didn't read the instructions which we got that day?!" It was more of a question than an answer.
I shook my head.
"That explains everything," he sighed. "So, basically the students who are selected will divide into groups of five –five and five will work in here New York and five go to England to their root company."
At hearing his words my breathing stopped.
I was so occupied with Aiden and the drama which was going on the last few days that I forgot to read the instructions. I knew everything about the company except this little valuable information, that they had branches.
Quickly, I withdraw the document from my handbag, making some items fall from inside the bag. Hastily, shoving the items back in the bag, abruptly, my eyes skimmed the paper and assimilate the terms and conditions.
When I completed reading, I didn't know if I should be miserable or delighted. In the application, it outlined that if I was selected for the central branch, which is in England, I had to relocate for the next four months, holidays would be bestowed accordingly, and all classes will be conducted online, so we will only work for three days a week. Upon completion of the internship, we would be required to return to New York for the examination. Following this, there would be an interview for us if we got selected, then we would then work for the company.
It was a wonderful opportunity for me, the first step toward my dreams, however, this also was going to change my life for forever.
"Come, we have to go to take the acceptance letter," Elliot spoke, stepping forward in the dense hallways of the university.
We sauntered to the office where we were going to receive our letter. We halted in front of the desk where an old lady with large glasses was inspecting the heap of paper.
" Hello Mrs. Mary, we are here to take our internship application," Elliot sweetly cajoled, the lady glanced at us and cleared her throat before speaking in an intense tone.
" Your name?"
" Emerald."
" Elliot."
Just as we said our names, her hands started to scour through the bundle of paper, quickly. After violent shifts between the papers, she ultimately passed us the papers. With brisk gratitude, we veered to the campus.
" I can't wait to see where I landed myself," he muttered, thrilled.
England, the headquarters of their business was a dream job where many people would die to just get a single opportunity and my father will be so proud to watch me work there, I was agitated as well as elated to find out what hold inside.
" C'mon, let's open the letter and see where our life is taking us," he opened the envelope with his clumsy fingers while I do the same.
My breathing stopped.
My eyes studied the words again and again, like a broken record. I was afraid to be happy, I was delighted but my happiness came with a hefty price. My soul was dancing but at the same time, my heart thumped in delirium.
