My hands trembled in distress. He answered me on the fourth ring.
"Emerald?" he asked, skeptically.
"Warren," the phone clutched tightly in my clasp. " Is Aiden with you?"
Wild noise of music was heard from the background which faded mildly, meaning he came far from speakers.
" No, in fact, I am in your room with everyone and was wondering why you and Aiden were not here," he said.
He said everyone means Grace and Ava were there as well, so Aiden has not gone to them, so where was he?
"I was busy with studies, I will talk to you later." my words were rough and hasty, and with that, I hang up the phone and fled to the garage present outside of the house, and took one of his cars.
I knew, it's not about four months internship he was angry with me. It was easy to stay four months apart but what about afterward? Because we both knew what this internship means, I will try my best to secure placement there, and if I succeed there will be no coming back. And that is what Aiden feared. He knew accepting this internship will change our lives and that is why he was angry. He has choices, and I don't. He has everything there while I have nothing here. He can come to England and we can have a bright future. He just needs to understand it.
I was driving for three hours on the street looking for him but he was nowhere to be seen. There was no certain place I could think where he could be, I drove on the streets like that lonely cloud that had no destination. When sunset started to set down and chilly winds stuck my body, I ultimately decided to retreat to his house to see if he has come.
My heart was in my mouth, and sweat of anxiety glazed on my forehead.
Where are you Aiden?
When I reached the house, it was deserted, not a particular commodity was misplaced.
He was not here.
In defeat, I reclined on the couch. My head was heavy with questions, was the job worth leaving him here? See, I even have second thoughts about the job when my entire life, I just wanted to work with Roosevelt Ambiance, it was my dream, my father's dream.
Aiden has the power; he became such a meaningful part of me that I can't see anything else. He had the power to change my mind.
What should I do?
I can't leave him here but that means I had to leave my dream? Can I do that?
With each dying second my pluses were increasing in anticipation, in uncertainty. The entire day had perished, still no sign of him, and walking back and forth didn't subside my apprehension. My gaze time and again wandered to the classic ancient clock that was hung on the center of the wall. The lights of the house were dimmed, the only light that existed was from the hearth which had embraced the entire space into its warmth and gleam.
2:00 am.
He was still not here.
Distress and anticipation were elevated in the atmosphere, my mind was building all kinds of horrid scenarios.
Where are you Aiden?
My gaze drifted to the door again and unlike other times when I only greet with an empty area, this time, there was a lurking shadow lingering at the entrance.
In an instant, my feet carried me in the entrance direction.
Aiden.
"Aiden?" I asked, hesitant. The shadow emerged from the dark into the dim soft glow. My heart thumped in my chest.
