The faint sound of shouts and screams drifted in the air from downstairs and roused me from a deep slumber. I didn't know when I dozed last night. I was still hunching on the chair, a groan escaped from my mouth because my neck was twisted in an odd position.

"Don't you understand, she is not here, get out of my house!" My mother exclaimed.

Whom she was screaming at? Who is not here?

I rose from the chair and descended downstairs, rubbing my eyes and fixing my hair.

Upon reaching the last stair, I froze. There stood the last person I was expecting. It is possible to feel turmoil and gloom at the same time? Because butterflies erupted inside my stomach and danced jovially, and at the same time my heart struggled to beat as the sorrow was squeezing it.

He was here.

Aiden was standing at the entrance. His once glowing forest eyes appeared like a gray night's grim wilderness. He looked beautiful even with his disheveled hair and unkempt clothes.

How did he find me?

"Please, let me meet her once." His deep voice sounded broken, like poignant music. With trembling lips and watery eyes, I stepped down the last stair. He still hadn't noticed me.

" Don't you understand? She is not here," my mother lied. I discerned the explanation for why she was prevaricating. Maybe, she speculated that, if she let me talk to him then maybe he would convince me to go back with him and leave her alone here again but little did she know she was wrong this time. He couldn't convince me.

" I know she is here, just once, please.... let me meet her." Hardly after finishing the sentence, his eyes fell upon me.

Our eyes fastened.

I am sorry.

An unspoken apology flashed in his eyes, how strange it was that I could read an unreadable stance effortlessly when it comes to him.

My heart was clenched into the most agonizing dolor that I ever felt. A myriad of emotions crossed his face in that short period.

" Emerald..." He breathed.

"What are you doing here?"

Conceivably, it was the bitterness and coldness in my tone that distorted the relief on his face and assorted into thick emotion that urged me to look away from his face. For once the satisfaction spread through my heart, seeing him hurt. He was hurting like I was hurting.

" I came here for you."

" You shouldn't have."

As much as harsh my voice was sounding outside, inwardly, there was a needle-piercing pain.

" Please....listen to me once, let me explain, I have something to tell you." He implored, for me to listen to him. My cup was filled with his explanations, now it was overflowing, there is only so much I can take in.

" Aren't from the start we running in the same circle? You explain and I listen. Not anymore, I am tired, Aiden."

I am tired, I am tired of running in a circle. It's suffocating. I felt helpless. This love was lethal.

His face fell.

My heart thumped, painfully.

"Please...Emerald, I am so sorry, I love you."

And I love you too.

" Go Aiden," I trudged to the entrance, where he was standing," please go."
