Time. Myriad philosophers in past delivered the theory about time, they portrayed time as a healer, greater than treasure, an illusion, and an unexpected mystery but they put little light on the fact that time is a transformer. Time transits, and with it, lineage, emotions, and thought processes too. Time gives rise to revolution.

Aiden entered my life as an evolution. With each step he took, he became a reason behind every chaos, every trepidation, every joy, every thrill, and most important pain and love. Time acted forefront in our story, with time transition my trust flourished, with time mutation, I became an open book and with time adaption my love accommodated.

I love you.

Again, these words rang in my head, and every time it rang there was another layer of blush added on my cheeks. Soon, I might appear like tomatoes if I didn't cease to conceive a thought about him.

The delighted smile hadn't found a way to leave my face alone for an entire day. He loves me back. I resisted myself dancing like a clown in contentment. I never thought I could see a different side of him, I am talking about the side which was the softest, gentlest, and compassionate. From morning he showered me with adoration-filled endearments and blissful kisses. Then the afternoon came and he reluctantly left my side as there was an important business to deal with but with a promise that he will return before I even realized and will compensate with my favorite food. The day couldn't get any more perfect than it has been. The ringing of the phone carries me out of my profound bliss.

Mom.

The name flashed on the phone screen too brightly in the dimmed lighting. After what happened last time, I was incredulous to exchange words with her. So, I didn't pick it up, however, it began ringing again. A thought appeared in my head.

What if something happened to her like last time when she been met with an accident or even worse what if Maverick had done something to her.

The worry struck me. In an instant, I answered it.

"Emy, my baby you know Maverick has brought me gifts today I am so happy, we are finally rekindling things," she said, without bothering to acknowledge me with greetings or pleasantries. She didn't even inquire about my health and it hurt, hurts too damn much! But could I complain? No, because she possibly been drunk and didn't care about me.

I didn't even have the privilege to be disappointed with her when I know it was that alcohol and Maverick were to blame not her.

"Mom why he is back?" I asked, in a similar manner she has used, without indicating that I was hurt.

Every time he was mentioned, fear grips me but I also wanted to know his intention.

" What do you mean? He loves me that's why he is back and I am expecting you to come back soon," she said over the phone, sharply.

"Mom why can't you understand he doesn't love you; he is just using you."

" You won't understand anything and don't need to tell what is wrong and what is right, all I have to say is you are coming back home," her tone was rigorous and bitter with a hint of anger in it.

" I am not coming back!" I reiterated the same sentence which I had told numerous times since I have come here. I tried of repeating the same things but she wasn't tired of bringing havoc in my life.

" Emerald, don't you say–" as she was speaking, I heard my door open and wandered inside Aiden with a hand full of bags.

"I have brought your favorite pizza," he lifted his hand in the air to display me a bag. I gestured at my phone, an indication I was talking on the phone. He nodded. I realized that mom had stopped speaking as silence greet me from another side.
