" Do you want to join?" Holden asked, seeing the fascination in my gaze as I was gawking at the bonfire, I never had experienced a bonfire before so I was keen to partake in this one. If not swimming, at least I can take pleasure here.
Grace and Blake formerly were settled near the fire with the red cup which contained alcohol inside. I slumped between Holden and Grace.
"Would you try, just one sip for me?" Grace asked indicating to her red cup.
I smiled.
" Grace, you can resume your drinking... I don't want to drink." Now her pestering doesn't bother me rather I started to find it amusing because no matter how much she tries, she wouldn't able to influence me to drink. She frets like a child at my negative response, intoxication can alter her from rebellious youth to a foolish child.
Some time passed, laughter echoed in the atmosphere, we were sitting and rejoicing at the bonfire, and levity was prominent agenda here. Even existing here physically, my mind, time and again, wondered to Aiden and Ava. They had been gone for a while now, however, no evidence of them could be detected, in the far, far distance.
Where is he? why still didn't come? but importantly, why are you wondering about him.
Universally conceded fact, a person's physical existence doesn't require to remember them when they dwell in your mind. There were so many experiences and adventures to explore here, and yet my mind still revolved around him when I could bet he wouldn't spare a second and let thoughts of me to invade his head.
This joyous moment couldn't be tarnished by him. When gloomed haze cleared and my gaze fell in front, I saw Grace was merrily dancing with a few people which I was unaccustomed to, they appeared heavily intoxicated but happy.
"Is it always like this? The bonfire...alcohol?" I asked Holden. He was gawking at the scene which was unfurling in front of him, with a smile glued to his face.
"Bonfire, once in blue moon but alcohol is our primitive need," he let out a laugh.
I comprehend, that they were not addicts rather they drink for leisure. Addiction was perilous but levity was not.
" You made me curious, why don't you drink alcohol?" He inquired, peering at me.
The warmth of the fire had engulfed me. When cool breezes caress your skin and in the warmth of flame you are immersed, the combination is bittersweet, and it was a different kind of pleasure.
Holden's question echoed in my mind; this was something I would prefer to never unravel. This question and the answer should be locked in the trunk and the key should be hidden, where not a sole soul could reach. My mind began to concoct fabrication that would be promising and will convince Holden. I was not a liar and never yearned to be one, but in some circumstances, in life, prevarication is valued as equivalent to honesty.
But before I would render falsehood to Holden, Ava and Aiden advanced from one of the tents, snatching everyone's attention including mine.
" Ava, if are you done fucking Aiden, can we go?" Blake asked Ava.
In an instant, my eyes wandered to Ava and Aiden. Ava stood next to him nonchalantly and Aiden had his cold hard face, but my eyes seem to catch the wrinkled on his shirt and a lipstick stain on his neck.
A heavy emotion settled inside my heart and pining melancholy gripped my entire physique.
Aiden and Ava both had....
I failed to complete the idea, rambunctious music in the atmosphere wasn't the sound reverberating in my ears but rather a harsh clause I had heard a couple of days ago.
