54. A reason behind

"More precisely, I am responsible for whatever he is going through since last four and half years." Laksh said with sad smile.

Swara looked at him confusingly. Laksh nodded at her.

"What do you mean, Laksh?" Swara asked him with confused look.

"Four and half years back, nothing would have happened if I wouldn't have let him and I had gone for that contract paper signature." Laksh said and then continued.

"That evening, we got the great news that our company got a huge contract for which bhai and me, both were working so hard. But the client was having his last day in India and they needed papers to be signed that night. So, anyone of me or bhai has to be there to process the deal as we were handling the project. It was rainy night. We were done with dinner when he got the call that a sign is needed. I was always a lazy guy (chuckle) and more dependent on Sanskar bhai.  I had continuous meeting that day and as I was newly joined in office that's why it was too much for me. I made faces on the name of half an hour driving to hotel just for a sign but it was important too. So, I agreed Making faces. But then Bhai said, he will go. I tried to deny. But Bhai smilingly said he will take care. I should go and sleep as it was tiring day for me.

Four and half years back,
If I wouldn't let him go and I would have gone then nothing would have happened

Bhai went out. I was awake and watching a movie it's been couple of hours but Bhai didn't come back. I got worried, I called him but his phone wasn't picked up. I got scared. I tried few more times and then it was picked up. I heard another man's voice. I was confused but then what I heard make my world fall apart. He told that bhai had a major accident  on highway and they are rushing him to the nearby hospital as his condition is not good. For a second I was numb and couldn't react but then I tried to hold myself and asked the hospital they were taking Bhai. Without thinking a second, I just outside to my car and drove to hospital. I don't know but how I didn't even think to inform someone in family.

I rushed to hospital and saw they were taking Bhai. I shuddered watching him lying lifeless in pool of blood on the strecher. I was on verge to cry. I never imagined to see my brother in that condition. His clothes was filled with blood and.... (Paused looking at Swara who got disturbed thinking about the scenario).. ahm I can't even explain. He was rushed for treatment. I felt as If I had lost my senses as the door closed. Then I got the call from Uttara as she saw me rushing outside in hurry.  She was calling me continuously but I was occupied with my thoughts and this time I took the call. As soon I heard her asking why I rushed like that. And where is Sanskar bhai? Why he didn't come yet? Where did I got? I broke down telling her everything. She was so small and got scared. I heard her crying and then Rushing to chacha ji, chachi ji informing them and then to My parents. I sat down on the bench outside holding my head and then in sometime I heard my family. They were there along with Arav as Uttara informed him. I can't explained what was there situation. They asked me how and why? But I didn't have answers.
That's when the doctor came out only to say that bhai won't able to make it due to blood loss. Still, they will try their best. Everyone came to hospital and they were so vulnerable to see their elder son in that condition. I kept cursing and blaming myself that why did I let him go? Why didn't I go?It should have been me, not him. Uttara has always been close to all three of us, brothers and she was crying a lot. But Arav somehow consoled her.
