"so..." donghyuck coughed awkwardly before taking a sip of his drink. the tension in the room was thick and stuffy, but this had to happen at one point or another.
whatever was becoming of donghyuck and minhyung's relationship was all fun and games until minhyung suggested that they try to get to know eachother's friend groups. donghyuck's friend group—which only consisted of one person, meaning that it wasn't much of a "group" after all—wasn't too fond of minhyung. on the other hand, minhyung's friend group loved donghyuck.
a date had been planned for everyone to get together and grab some coffee, but the day ended up being an excuse for jaemin and jeno to tell cringey stories and embarrass the fuck out of minhyung. all while renjun never stopped shooting him glares, of course.
the walk there was fine, filled with jaemin's rambling, jeno's precise details, donghyuck's laughter, and minhyung's protests. as they sat at the cafe, sipping awkwardly at their drinks, the atmosphere was only filled with renjun's brooding aura.
five minutes had passed with nothing but tense silence to the point where jeno, jaemin, and minhyung chimed chimed in to donghyuck and agreed, "so..."
"enough with this awkwardness!" donghyuck suddenly exclaimed. "it's making me uneasy." minhyung didn't waste a second to gently place his hand on donghyuck's thigh, caressing carefully.
"let's all just..." he trailed off, looking towards minhyung for support. he only offered a smile which was good enough. they both knew minhyung was lacking in the social department.
with a new surge and boost of confidence, donghyuck continued, "let's all just ignore our differences, grudges we may hold against one another, and the past that we've all gotten a taste of, and try to have fun today." he kicked renjun's leg under the tabled, narrowing his eyes slightly, "all. of us." the chinese male rolled his eyes and sighed, silently agreeing to do it for the sake of his best friend.
when renjun finally got passed his pride and grudges, he managed to relax and have a lot more fun than he was willing to admit. because at the end of the day, minhyung, donghyuck, jeno, jaemin, and renjun, were all so incredibly different, that they clashed together into the best way possible.
