December 8th

"This is when Brock taught me to ride a bike!" Y/N explained as she pointed to a picture in her family photo album. "Oh! And, this is when I got into my moms makeup drawer." She smiled fondly at the memory. "I must've been...at least three in this photo. God, I looked like a clown." Y/N chuckled to herself. She looked over at Mary who sat next to her, staring intently down at the album. Y/N bit her lip, suddenly growing self-conscious. "Am I annoying you? Is this boring?"

Mary shook her head. "Not at all."

Y/N looked around the living room that they were sat in. "It's nice to be able to hang out somewhere other than my room, don't you agree?" Mary nodded as her arm wrapped around the back of the couch, her hand gently gripping Y/N's shoulder in an attempt to pull her closer.

"Speaking of, where did your family go?" Mary questioned.

"They went to see that new Christmas movie," Y/N explained. "I wanted to see it too, but I figured I'd just wait until it left theaters and buy the DVD copy." She tucked her hair behind her ear, so she could get a better view of Mary. "So, what was your childhood like?"

Mary tilted her head to the side. "Why do you ask?"

"Well, I mean..." she looked down at the photo album. "I'm practically showing you my entire childhood." She giggled, placing her hand over her mouth as she did so. Her laughter fizzled out as she made her next point. "Also, it kind of seems like...you know everything about me and I know nothing about you." Mary tensed up at Y/N's words, going completely unnoticed by the young adult next to her. "Well, I know you don't know everything, I just mean it metaphorically. My point still stands, though."

"Hm, I suppose that makes sense." Mary nodded. "What do you want to know?"

Y/N thought for a moment. "All I really know is that you lived on a farm." Y/N stated. "So, what about your parents? What were they like?"

"My parents..." Mary repeated. "My father passed on when I was very young. I was raised by my mother and I was an only child." Mary glanced down at Y/N, making eye contact with her lovely obsession as a small smile formed on her face. "There's not much to tell of my beginning. Nothing of interest, at least."

"I think it's interesting," Y/N stated. "What was your mother like?"

Mary smiled fondly as she thought back on her life as a child. "She was kind...selfless." Mary bit her bottom lip, an action Y/N hadn't seen Mary do very often. This must've been important to her. Y/N made sure to listen attentively. "She always made sure I ate before she did. I was always the one to use the hot water when it came time to bathe and she settled for the cold." God, Mary missed that life. "She was much like Tiana."
