15. The laws of the loop

Enoch pov

I grabbed y/n and took her into the parlor and shut the door. I can't believe it. The time loop laws shouldn't allow it. She can't be pregnant. She can't be!

My head is spinning and I can't think straight. I walk over to where she's standing in the middle of the room. I put my hands on her shoulders. "I want you to say what you just said. But say it really slowly."

 " Enoch,...I'm...preg...nant. "

I turn around and walked away from her. "When did you find out?"

 " Yesterday morning. "

 "So was that before or after you slept with Millard?"

 " After-"

I turned around and pointed at her, " so you DID sleep with Millard! "

 "I did not! How would anyone be able to enjoy an invisible dick?"

 " HEY! I HEARD THAT AND I AM DEEPLY OFFENDED! " Millard screamed through the door. Y/n covered her mouth and I gave a small smile.

We both started to burst out laughing. Millard kept screaming through the door. "ANYONE AND EVERYONE CAN TAKE A RIDE ON THIS IF THEY WANTED TO! I DON'T DISCRIMINATE! I'M 87 AND I STILL GOT IT! JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SEE IT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S NOT THERE!"

Y/n dropped to floor and I  bent over and put my hands on my knees. My stomach hurt from laughing so hard. When we stopped laughing I helped her stand up again.

"So, y/n..."

" So. "

She looked into my eyes. I could tell she needed support. She looked very desperate and worried about what I thought of our situation. We just got back together and the baby is a huge burden, but I have to be there for her, because I love her.

I take both of her hands in mine, "y/n, I love you. And this is way too much for right now."

 She looked down and started to cry. Lifted her chin up, "I wanna be there for you. And her."

 She furrowed her eyebrows, "her?"

 " I want it to be a girl. So I'm sticking with her. "

 "So your not mad?"

 I blink, "Oh no I am absolutely horrified and pissed off but I shouldn't be mad at you because technically its not you fault."

I hug her and put my head in the crevice of her neck. "Ill be an okay father, probably." She chuckled and I lifted my head. She kissed me with her soft sweet lips. I let go of her and grabbed her hand. I unlock the door to the parlor. Everyone was pressed against it. Bronwyn, Claire, and the twins fell over as soon as I open the door. Olive and Fiona tumbled in after them. "Eavesdroppers." I scoffed.

I pushed past them being careful not to make y/n trip and fall. I'm pretty sure if a pregnant lady falls on her stomach it could damage the baby. She trips anyways but luckily catches herself.

Y/n pov

As soon as I step over the pile of peculiars I see Ms. Peregrine standing in the middle of the hallway. She's smiling but it's not as bright as usual. Something is very wrong.

"Y/n, dear, please join me in my office."

I follow her with Enoch still holding my hand. When I reach her door she politely shooed away Enoch. He let go of my hand and I walked inside.

When I entered her office she was sipping her tea. I sat on her black leather couch. She set down her tea and looked me in the eyes. She took a deep breath and took both of my hands on hers.

 "I've done some research. I don't know how to say this to you calmly. And this is going to be very hard for you to hear. We all still love you very much."

 She took another deep breath, "Because of the laws of the loop, the baby won't be able to survive once it is born."

 My stomach falls to the floor and my heart implodes. Ms. Peregrine continues on, "If the baby makes it after it is born, it will zap out of existence when the loop is reset. Or the time loop constantly reversing your body could cause the baby to not grow inside of you and force a miscarage."

 I sink into the couch and completely lose it. My mind is spiralling out of control. "So I'm never gonna have my baby? Shes not going to exist?" I say between sobs.

 Ms. Peregrine embraces me into a warm and gentle hug. "I'm so sorry. I wish it was different. I wish we could meet her."

I stop sobbing and look up at her, "what if I had the baby outside of the loop?"

She sits up and caresses my back, "you've been in the loop for too long. If we leave the loop for more than a few minutes the years catch up with us. And I would never allow you to give birth in a cave. "

I chuckle and wipe my remaining tears. "Are you going to be alright to tell Enoch? And everyone else?" She asks. I was never ready to have this baby in the first place, and now I have to be ready to lose it? And tell everyone? Enoch's gonna be devastated but at least there isn't as much pain he has to deal with. I'm not only more alone, I'm also lost, and to no end. When will this nightmare stop?

When will I be free from the curse living inside me?
