Y/N pushed the baseball cap over her curls trying to cover her face. Her fingers tightened on her duffel bag feeling anxiety from the crowd of people.

Her heart was pounding slowing down her pace. With ringing ears she didn't hear the bicyclist behind her.

With a loud shriek she tumbled to the ground throwing her cap off her head. Immediately she was surrounded by photographers.

The bicyclist helped her up, "Are you okay, sweetie?"

Y/N looked down to see her torn jeans and bloody knees, "I'm fine."

She pushed her way past the crowd as they followed her to a different airport terminal. Their shouts clouded her vision.

"Y/N!"

"Why are you at New York Fashion Week?"

"We heard you got dropped from your label. Is that true?"

"Y/N can we get a picture?!"

"When's your next album coming?"

Y/N put a hand in front of her face trying to stop the flash of lights, "Move out the way!"

She tried to push through but the men roughly circled her. She felt cornered, like an animal in a cage.

"Watch out! Move!" A deep voice surrounded her in protection.

Y/N looked up seeing her associate Cench put a protective arm around her. His bodyguards moved the crowd with a flick of their hands.

"Damn girl, you gotta be careful." He spoke lifting her chin with his fingers.

She looked away feeling the adrenaline wear off, "I'm good."

Y/N could see his van pull up, a driver in a crisp suit stood outside holding the door open. Cench bent down scooping up her hat.

He placed it back on her head pulling on her curls so they framed her face. He smiled making her knees weak, "Where you headed to?"

Y/N cleared her throat feeling her face get hot, "I think I should be asking you that Mr. Incognito."

He laughed looking down at the pretty girl in front of him, "You free right now?"

Y/N looked at the text messages from her team and sighed. Shrugging her shoulders she smiled, "Yeah."

Cench held his hand out waiting for her to take it. Y/N felt chills erupt on her body when he lead her to his car.

"Aye hand me that first aid kit." Cench asked his friend who dug into a bag and pulled out the kit.

Y/N giggled when he began cleaning her banged up knees, "I swear you carry everything."

Cench laughed, "Got to."

Y/N stood behind him as they approached a tall building. "Where are we?"

"Studio. You cool with that?" Cench asked putting a hand on her back.

Y/N's jaw ticked, "I don't even know you like that to be here."

"Don't be like that. We know each other."

Y/N rolled her eyes. They did know each other but Y/N had disappeared from the music industry for no reason leaving him wondering where she went.

"You're right, I'm sorry."

She was amazed at the makeshift studio. An engineer was already waiting and preparing for the session.

Her phone rang and she quickly turned it off. "Another album?"

Oakley smiled at her, "Yeah. Gotta keep it on the low though."

Y/N nodded feeling a sense of peace as she watched his session. Two hours later he was ordering food.

"Yo, what you want?" He asked Y/N texting his assistant his food order.

"Don't matter. I'll eat whatever you getting."

Silence followed them afterwards. The studio was empty. Y/N appreciated Oakley sending away his crew just so they could talk.

The back of her head hit the sofa behind them. She closed her eyes feeling a bit sleepy. Being famous meant lack of sleep, she always hated that.

"Y/N?"

"Hmm?"

Oakley moved closer to her on the couch. His warmth coating her skin, "Why'd you leave?"

"You're talking about the joint tour in 2021?" She asked holding his hand.

Oakley nodded waiting for her response. He knew what it was like to have pressure from the world. You can never just focus on your music, there's your image and your fans and most of all your time.

They were on a joint tour. Rappers and rnb artists performing together to create a bigger brand. Y/N and Oakley were close but there was always a wall that she had put up. She didn't trust anybody.

"I had a panic attack right before my show and that was the last time I performed in the last two years." Y/N closed her eyes thinking about it.

"I tried calling, you know?"

She nodded, "I just needed time to myself. You've been there for me but I needed to save myself."

He looked at her admiring her strength. Y/N was resilient and brave, something he wish he had more of.

"We're friends right?"

She nodded, "I think we're a bit more than that Oakley. We just never finished what we started."

Before he could speak his assistant knocked on the door, "Food's here!"

Y/N stood up wiping off her hands smiling, "Let's go eat."
