Kayoko loved getting the mail. She was able to read letters to her parents when they were busy or open packages and see what was inside. She was also the person who reminded her parents to get it every day. But on certain occasions, if she saw the mail van outside, she'd ask if she could wait and get it the second it came.

Today was one of those days, and she was waiting by the window. Kyoichi was with her, and while he didn't care about the mail he just wanted to be by his sister while he played with trucks. When Kayoko heard footsteps she shot up to open the door, a huge smile on her face when it flung open.

"Hi mail lady!" The mail woman smiled while digging into her bag. "Hello ma'am, I'm pretty sure this is for you." She handed the mail off to Kayoko, who thanked her before closing and locking the door. "Mail's here!" Kayoko yelled while running over to the dining room. You were making a list of things you needed for when school started again, but you'd be teaching at an elementary school since they needed a sub. Katuski was making lunch, which was beef bowls for everyone except Kyoichi, who was only eating dinosaur nuggets or anything fried at the moment.

"Alright, kid lay it on us." You glanced between Kayoko and your screen as she read. "So we got a bill... a letter for Mama... and a letter for Papa. They're both from the Mighties." You and Katsuki looked at each other because they send the letters earlier than usual, and also that you'd gotten one. "Give them here Yoyo." She handed you the mail, and you opened Katsuki's first.

"Dear Bakugou Katsuki... yadah yadah plus one... filler words... nominated for Best Save... it's just an invitation letter." You gave it to Kayoko who ran it over to her dad, and you took a breath before opening yours. When you unfolded the letter two tickets fell out, and you pressed the pages out to read it.

Dear Bakugou y/n,

There are a lot of different ideas that can come to one's mind when they think of the word hero. A lot, they think of people who risk their lives to help others in danger. But being a hero is more than getting the win, it's about the impact that they bring to society.

Ever since receiving your hero license, you've been giving back to the community. You started volunteering at the age of 15 and helped raise funds for multiple causes. In college you started an organization made for queer and students of color, providing a safe space for people who felt as though they didn't have a place on campus.

Once getting your degree, you started teaching at UA. You've helped countless future heroes take their first steps into helping the world. Your first class will graduate next spring, and when speaking with them they had nothing but positive things to say about the impact you had on their lives and future careers.

You've been on a small hiatus these past few months, but you still haven't stopped giving back. You've made multiple donations to various charities and have partnered with dozens of orphanages to help with the mental health of children. For the past fourteen years, you've shown how much you care for others. Your family, friends, and students have placed you on a pedestal, and we at the Mighties agree.

You've taken what it means to be a hero and pushed it above and beyond. We want to thank you for the hard work you've done. We would like to dedicate an award for you: The Peace Maker. It's an award for heroes like you, who help to save the world by using their power to give back. We'd like you to give a speech, so please send a draft to this email as soon as possible.

By the time you were done reading, a couple of tears had run down your face. You turned to look at Katsuki, and you couldn't help but smile while you cried. "They're giving me an award Kat. It's a dedication award." Katsuki was shocked, and Kayoko came over and congratulated you. You didn't think anyone cared about what you did, but this was the first time you'd be noticed on a big platform.

The rest of the day was a blur for you. You called your family and told them, each reaction more exciting than the next. Your brain was in a happy buzz the entire day, even while you put the kids to bed. You did notice how Katsuki didn't have much of a reaction throughout the day, so before you got into bed you decided to address it. "You've been quiet today; thought you'd be excited."

Katsuki just shrugged, and you raised an eyebrow at him. "What's up Katsuki?" "It's just... I've worked my ass off this year. I know I can't win Best Hero anymore, but it just feels like I don't get enough credit for it. I work so hard and put my life on the line every day, yet I've been stuck and Number Five for years while my friends keep going higher and higher. And then they dedicate an award to you and don't get me wrong you help out, but it just doesn't make sense. for someone who's not an active hero to get a dedication award. "

You looked at him, then around the room, squinted a bit, then pointed to the door. "Um... I'm gonna go get some water." You bee-lined out of the room and down the stairs, but once you got to the bottom you stood still. A lot of things were running through your head. Your husband just blatantly said to your face he deserved more reignition while in the same breath that you didn't deserve your award.

Your breathing got hard, and suddenly the only emotion you could feel was rage. You went into the kitchen and pulled out a knife, then grabbed Katsuki's keys and walked outside. He'd bought a new car a couple of months ago, leaving you with his old and so you'd be a two-car family. First, you unlocked the car, threw the keys in, then locked the door again and closed the door. Next, you took the knife and stabbed it in his tire, the hissing sound giving you a feeling of peace.

You decided it wasn't enough though, so you took the knife out and dragged it against the car, paint chipping away and the scraping sound satisfying. You went around the car, stabbing a tire and then scraping the car. Once you got to the last tire you stabbed it a bit harder, then decided to let it stay in. With a sigh of relief, you went back into the house and then up to your room. Katsuki was sitting there, glasses on reading a book. He looked up at you, and the smile on your face felt... off.

"You good hun?" "Never better. Goodnight." You got into bed and turned to face the wall, and Katsuki looked at you for a bit before setting his things to the side and turning off the lamp. It took him a while, mainly due to the feeling of fear, but he fell asleep. When he woke up, he turned to an empty bed. "y/n?" He groaned while he stretched, sitting up to look at the bathroom. "y/n?" He repeated, louder than before.

When there was no response, Katsuki got out of bed and walked into the bathroom, you not in sight. "Huh..." He said while exiting the bathroom. Well, might as well check on the kids. He walked to Kayoko's room and knocked on the door, but there was no response. That was weird because Kayoko was usually the first one up. "Peanut? I'm coming in." He opened the door, but all he saw was an empty bed.

Okay, now panic had set it. He went to Kyoichi's room, empty. Then Kahano's room was also empty. He ran through the entire house and there wasn't a single person in sight. He decided to check outside, and when he saw the state of his car, he couldn't believe it. He walked around it, and he noticed the knife in his tire looked familiar. He pulled it out, and sure enough it belonged to their knife block. He went back inside and went to grab his phone, but before he could call he saw a message you left.

wifey 💍

Bakugou, I've decided to take the children on a little trip to Mexico. I think it'll be good for them to be around some family. I also think It would be good for me to get away from a man who's so selfish he can't be proud of his wife Maybe you can take this time to think about the kind of man you are and see past yourself for once. Do not contact me while I'm gone, and don't contact my family either.

Oh god, he fucked up.
