The Soldiers of Sector V
Chapter 54 THE SEARCH II
The team pushes deeper into enemy territory to track the girls' last known whereabouts. After getting that lead from the encrypted files, they now had a way where they may have gone. It wasn't a lot to go off of, but it was better than nothing. Wolf deploys his drones to scout the area around them for any lurking enemies that may get the jump on them while Evans continues to fine tune his turret.
The street they entered was littered with burnt out cars, debris, and a couple of levelled buildings. There were a lot of bullet casings on the ground along with other military equipment as Wolf picked up an old Division drone as its rotors were broken off with a massive hole through the middle piece. It drops to the ground as he loads his rifle with a fresh magazine.
Evans: I wonder how the base is going?
Wolf: We can talk to them but since we are in enemy territory we have to play it safe but if it is an emergency then we need to talk to them but for now both of our sides want to keep radio silence.
Evans: Well... let's hope we don't have any issues.
Abigail: You saying that is going to cause issues.
Evans: Well, let's hope I didn't jinx us.
Abigail: I think you just did *giggles*
Evans: Damnit!
He holds his head as he quietly yells in frustration as Abigail giggles at him as they continue to walk through the street. They chatted away until a scrapping noise was heard down one of the alleyways of the street, which sent them darting to cover. As they did, they watched with pepping eyes as a couple of dolls with swords walk out of the alleyway, but they stagger with every step.
Upon closer inspection, the dolls looked like the older version the Sangvis Ferri used to attack the combined forces. As they approached closer, the team got out of cover and began to fire at them as the dolls fell forward, finally shutting down for good. Abigail connects her tablet to the old dolls to see if they have any footage that might provide more info, but out of nowhere, the port sparked as she pulled the plug out just before the doll caught fire.
She moved back in shock as Wolf made a nostalgic oh noise. It was a defect that the old models had when the software tried to update it resulting in a combustion of the cable. He reassures her that it would be fine.
She checks her cable for any damage as a sigh of relief as she puts the cable back into her back pack along with the tablet. They continue forward until the reach a crossroad, Evans points to the right as that is where to go but Wolf tells them that they will take a slight detour. Evans was confused as to why until he remembers the map in the bar that pointed to a near SHD node.
In agreement the four went into a carpark building and went to the lower levels. They went past more burnt out vehicles and trash around the place till they seen an "Exit" door symbol on the bottom level. Abigail reaches for the door knob and turns it to open it but when she does the door doesn't budge. She then tries the other direction and the door still didn't want to open.
Abigail: The doors locked guys...
Wolf: Don't worry I can just get my trusty lockpick set out an-
Abigail: HIIAH
Abigail kicks the door open to the threes disapproval as Wolf crossed his arms. She turns around expecting a shocked look but instead she was met with Wolf crossing his arms at her which makes her realise why he is.
