Chapter 55 THE SEARCH III

They say that death lies behind every corner or from a doorway loaded with explosives waiting to trip and kill their unaware intruder. Some lead to nothing while some lead to something, As the door slowly opens the insides begin to reveal themselves. Like a curtain drop the group could see a banquet hall but with broken tables and railings. Wolf and Evans go in first with Wolf leading the charge with his shield as he scans the room, Evans holds his rifle out as the lasers point around the room.

Ridge and Amelia go in behind them as they do the same thing as Abigail checks her watch surveying the area for any hostiles. The place was eerily too quiet as Wolf walks over to the broken piano with half of it missing with the keys all over the floor with bullet markings all over it. The chandelier was imbedded into the old timber flooring as it splintered around the edges. The wire was still sparking above them as it crackled away.

While he searched his area he found some bullet casings and as he picked one up he could see that it was AK 12's bullets. He sees plenty of them scattered around the room which told him that she had either been evading around the room or she was retreating. He throws the bullet away as it hits the ground making a clang noise as it bounced.

Evans: Hey guys I found something!

Wolf: What is it?

Evans: The wall has been smashed open... it's only enough to fit a person through...

Wolf: Strange....

Wolf comes to Evans position as he observes the damaged wall with it blown across the other room. It was big enough to be a persons size which paints a different picture as to what may have happened here. The team splits into two teams as Wolf and Evans enter the human sized hole while Ridge, Amelia and Abigail explore the banquet room.

It was a tight fit for Wolf since he was a bit taller than the hole and with the equipment it posed a challenge but after a few tight squeezes ad some elbow grease he gets through. Evans stepped through the hole through to the other side without a struggle. 

Wolf: Shorty

Evans: Hey! Well Mr World Wide had you took off your equipment you wouldn't be complaining.

Wolf: Alright you got me there but had you wore some taller shoes you would of not fit.

Evans: Very funny, now come on and lets see what we- Wolf...

Wolf: What?

Evans: Look....

He points to the red carpet which appears too be stained with a substance which prompts them to take a closer look. They check if the coast is clear as the flashlights illuminate the other parts of the room. They approach the stain but not only that they could see other stained parts of the carpet as well. He takes his glove off and was about to touch it but surprisingly ISAC begins to scan it. 

Wolf after all his years in the army did not know about ISAC being able to scan blood compounds to which Evans didn't either finding it rather convenient. However while it scanned they observe the surroundings trying to piece together what had went wrong in a place like this as a beep could be heard from Wolf's watch. However the voice of ISAC had revealed something that did not make sense at all.

ISAC: Scan complete..... Identification substance: Blood.... Possible subject.... RPK 16

The identification surprised them as they raise their rifles as they continue to scan the area. The situation has changed with that new discovery. With no explanation as to why blood was there multiple questions begin to flow in their mind. Was it an ambush?, Was it a injury? or Was it a false positive? But for Evans he could picture something that Wolf was thinking in the back of his mind but it still wouldn't add up.
