Chapter 87 WHAT REMAINS

The sounds of water drip from the top of the cylindrical caverns splashing onto the cold concrete floor below as the darkness gets illuminated by a bright light from one end of the tunnel as Wolf leads the group through it running through like there was no tomorrow. The others struggle to catch up but for Evans he was able to scout ahead with them as the others continue to run after the two. 

For Wolf he knew that they needed to hurry if they were going to save anymore people in the settlement or the settlement itself. It brought back old memories of Sector V going in to protect a settlement when it could never protect itself, what he didn't know at the time is no matter what he did or Sector V, they were losing ground bit by bit and they were there to watch the full collapse of it all.

As the two come across an exit they begin to slow down with the sounds of panting coming from behind them, They realise that they have been running a bit too fast as the others try to catch their breath. Wolf was the first person to approach the rusted up ladder that lead back up to the surface. He takes a grab of it and lifts himself up bit by bit as the others waited for him to reach the top of the sewer.

The entrance was blocked by a manhole that sat firmly in it's holder. With two hands he pushes it upwards with a heave pushing the metal cover to the side and taking a peak with a drone. The drone soars up in the air but just like before there were no enemies down the stricken path, however it was clear there was an engagement here with soldier bodies and Ferri Dolls littering the street below.

The firefight had ended a bit ago but the damage still remained as Wolf hoped out of the Sewer taking his mask off and feeling the cold night air brush against his lips. It was a nice and peaceful feeling that he could never get not used to. The others come out of the Sewer one by one as Wolf helps the others up as the get to work. They had to run a bit to the are but judging the smoke and flames that could be seen past the buildings, things were not going well.

Evans: It's burning...

Rhea: Looks like the Ferri have been busy.

Wolf: Come on... lets not waste any time.

Rhea: Mmm

M4A1: Is this what you guys used to do back then?

Evans: Yeah... although we were dropped in via paradropping back then.

M4A1: That must of been scary.

AR 15: Will we ever do that sometime.

Evans: Maybe... trust me you guys will love it.

Wolf deploys his drones as the team sets off towards the burning settlement but it wouldn't take long to see a sight that was just as horrific as Wolf remembered it. The bodies that laid around from those who tried to flee and those who tried to fight back with dolls littering the whole place with bullet holes in them as they leak oil. For M4 and 15 it was a grisly sight but to the others it wasn't unusual, however they stand firm as they spot a Ferri unit approaching them. 

They looked lifeless like any other Ferri with their visors on their face and guns at the ready but before they could raise them Wolf begins to open fire along with the others. The sudden attack causes the Ferri to try and seek cover but Evans was not going to let them leave, pulling a few pins on the grenades he had, he throws them towards the Ferri sending them flying as Rhea goes in to finish off any of the left over dolls with her guns and machete slamming it into the head of one of the dolls sending sparks out as she shoots another with a pistol.
