It wasn't long before Hope rented a car and was on her way to the Knight house from the airport. She could barely stay within the speed limit with all of the excitement pouring through her; the thought of surprising Awsten and seeing him in person was all that made her do it.
Hope told Gracie ahead of time and was told when Awsten was out of the house, he was on his way home from a few hours with Travis. It wouldn't give her much time, but with her current speed she could maybe get there at just the right moment.
She wasn't a leader when it came to driving in unfamiliar places, but once she saw the only road she was familiar with, Hope knew it was the correct one. She parked a little ways down the street in case a fan spotted her on the street. Another reason was that so when Awsten came home, he wouldn't be confused from seeing a completely new car in the driveway; it was one of the smartest things Hope had done that entire day.
It was a little past lunch time and Hope hadn't eaten all day, which was her first mistake. She even forgot to pack her toothbrush, but managed to grab her toothpaste.
She was a complete mess up the time she met Gracie at the front door, who greeted her with a hug. It was all Hope needed to feel better about the whole situation. Would Awsten actually want her there for it? He wasn't the most excited over the album even coming out at all, so would he be comfortable? Were there going to be people over for the release? There at least had to be Geoff and Otto for it, right?
"I'll just set my things in his room and be right back," Hope said to Gracie. Neither parents were home at the time, which made her feel just slightly uncomfortable. Usually, Ginny would be talking non-stop to Hope, as she started doing whenever she saw Awsten FaceTiming her. Either that or there would still be the sound of talking between some people or a TV playing.
The sound of Gracie shouting through the house startled Hope, but once she could comprehend the, "That's the car!" her heart leaped with a mix of nerves and excitement.
She started down the hallway and then the stairs, almost ripping the door off of its hinges while opening it. As she stood there, Hope thought it must've been a cheesy thing out of a rom-com, but she'd do it for Awsten no matter what.
There was a slight change in the speed of Awsten's car and Hope figured then that he had seen her.
The car was in the driveway in no time and barely seemed to stop before Awsten was rushing out of it, slammed his door, and running toward her. There was one thing that seemed hesitant though, right as he got out of the car, he shoved something into his pocket as quick as he could.
Hope paid no mind to it as she was preparing herself to finally be back into Awsten's arms, and once he made it to her, nothing could have prepared her for the impact.
He practically slammed his body into hers in a hug, squeezing her insanely tight. "I missed you so fucking much, oh my god," he mumbled on top of her head.
Without missing a beat when they broke away from each other, Awsten took her inside, he still knew the risk of them doing nearly anything in public turning into accusations. "When did you get here?" He asked through a bright smile.
"Probably like a minute before you did," Hope laughed. "And I'm glad I did, because I didn't know if your parents were here and if I got here after you then I thought one of them would've opened the door and-"
Before she could finish her sentence, Awsten cupped her face in his hands and kissed her like he hadn't seen her in almost a year.
"Damn, you guys gotta rub it in my face, don't you," Gracie said sarcastically from the kitchen.
