I'll Run to You // Awsten Knight

Chapter 21-Leaving

October 31st, 2017

Houston, Texas

Reality kicks in for Awsten and Hope once they wait for Hope to be called on the plane. It could be months before they see each other again, and Awsten starts overthinking a lot.

What if she doesn't even talk to me after this? She could have thought that she's too good for me and doesn't say a word to or about me ever again. I would understand if that happened, she's a worldwide famous singer and I'm just some guy in a band from Texas, of course she'd ignore me after this. I really need her right now, have I not said enough? Does she think I don't appreciate her?

"Awsten? Awsten, are you okay?" Hope waves her hands in front of his face to grab his attention and she wonders what had made him zone out so quickly for so long. "I got called on."

Awsten doesn't say a word, instead he just hugs Hope so tight that it's like a signal that he doesn't want to let go. "I don't want you to leave."

Hope hugs him back, "I don't want to leave either, but I have to. I promise I'll come visit you at any time that I can."

"But you're going to go on tour in a few months."

"I'm going to be in Houston for a couple days and I made sure I had a couple free days so I could see you longer instead of leaving right after the show."

What Hope says makes Awsten feel a little happier, bringing a smile on his face. He's really happy at the fact that she wants to see him again after this, and going through the trouble of booking venues on specific days just so she could see him during touring.

They hear the last call for Hope's section and they know this will be the last time they see each other in months, and god Awsten just wants to kiss her right now. He knows there are people already staring at them for hugging in public, and means it's going to go around fairly quick.

Awsten gives her one more small squeeze before letting go and Hope walks away to board the plane. She's waking away from him to leave. To be over one thousand miles away from him in New York while he stays in Houston. 

But she's going to come see me again soon. Awsten thinks to himself. Unless...I come to see her for her birthday next month, yeah, I'll do that. Now I just have to know where she lives. Wait...I have to know where she lives. Goddammit, she could be anywhere in New York city, anywhere. But Maliki knows where she does, I just have to contact them!

His eyes visibly get wider at his idea and he goes to Instagram to find Maliki's account, it doesn't take long for him to find them though.

Awsten finally gets back to the tour bus outside of the venue, more upset than he had been when he left the airport and sits on the couch almost immediately. Geoff figures out what he's feeling right now and goes to join him. "Hey, I know what you're feeling right now. Maybe you could go visit her soon, you know, like a surprise. She's talked to me so much about how she's going to miss you and it's honestly so adorable how badly you guys want to see each other." 

"Yeah...I uh...I really want to see her again. I actually got to message Maliki and they gave me her address so I can surprise her for her birthday next month." With just saying that, Awsten can feel his eyes swell up with tears and tries his best to hide it, "But anyway, I'm really tired so I think I'm just going to change and sleep."

"Oh, alright. See you in the morning. You're planning to go back to your parents' around noon, yeah?"

"Yeah, g'night Geoff." Awsten says and he goes off to the bathroom.
