After he watched Hope drive away going to God knows where, Awsten walked in the house, slamming the front door. His eyes burned, his head pounded, his jaw was in pain from clenching it so hard.
Just like she did with Hope, Ginny asked if he was all right. All she got for a response was a dead look in the eyes as he passed her to go into his room, slamming that door shut as well.
When the tears started to form, he didn't try to stop them. There was a million things he could yell.. maybe even scream, but he wasn't going to risk it. He had too much energy but nothing to do with it.
He could punch his pillow? Scream into it? Maybe a lot to say, but not a lot to do.
Time passed and Awsten cried his eyes red, his nose felt raw, his mouth felt sticky, and his pillow was soaked with tears.
Nobody dared to go upstairs and see how he was doing, afraid that he would yell at them.
There were only a few times in his life that Awsten got so heartbroken or hurt that he acted like that, but he hadn't thought about them until he laid on his bed after there was nothing left to let out. No tears, no emotions. Numb.
His energy was completely depleted in the matter of ten minutes.

Hope didn't know where she was driving to, nor did she care, anywhere but Awsten's neighborhood and near Maliki were the best places that she could think of. If she had asked Maliki for a ride to a hotel, who knows what would've happened? Would they have tried to flirt or genuinely cared for her?
She didn't know what or who to believe.
It was all a mess and everyone was to blame... even Awsten. Especially Awsten.
She had poured her soul to him, and for what? If his ex was back in the picture, maybe she had convinced him to be with her instead of Hope, but it wasn't something she could figure out within a night.
What would Geoff or Otto think? What about Gracie? Poor, sweet, Gracie, she was the one person in Awsten's family she felt the closest to, but maybe Hope's breakup wouldn't change anything. It wasn't Gracie's fault, after all, she wasn't the one who had cheated on her.
Forty minutes had passed and Hope's gas was practically on E, so she decided to stop in a hotel parking lot and book a room online. It wasn't the nicest, or the busiest, but it was the closest and most practical.
The room had everything she needed, a decently sized bed, a single person bathroom, mini fridge, and a tv. She would switch her flight to as early as she could the next day, and it wasn't difficult to do that.
Hope didn't cry once since she started driving, and standing in the hotel alone, feeling her heart ache and yearn for comfort changed all of that.
Once she could relax her tightening muscles, Hope dropped herself onto the bed and let out everything she felt. A guttural scream left her before she knew what she was doing. Her face buried in a pillow. Blankets made their way to the floor. Hope's shirt had tear stains all over it.
Great, she thought. Now I have to clean this mess.
A/N, yes I know this is a short chapter, but I've had plans for the coming ones for a long time, and some researching will have to go into this, pardon any mistakes that might be made, I am in no way a professional at writing but I like to pretend that I am.
