Hope wanted to record a song before she had to leave for Ohio to see her family again. She couldn't wait any longer to finish recording it, she started as soon as she got back home from the tour.

Of course, this one is about Awsten, but nobody else knew that. Nobody knew what the experiences that this song came from, what had caused her to write it in under two days, nobody but her.

"You are non-stop these days, aren't you?" Joshua, Hope's producer asked her. He usually hung out at the studio, not having many things planned to do most days.

"Josh, I've had this stuck in my head for days, and you should know that I immediately want to release this once everything is finished. There is no fucking way that I can wait another week of not having this out." Hope put her headphones back on as she gets ready to sing into the microphone one more time.

The song had a fast pace, catchy tempo. Some words cut up, being finished after a second for a wait. It wasn't a challenging song for her to sing, not testing the notes she can reach, comfortably being in her vocal range. It's a song you could definitely learn the words to easily, while being a very different song from her past ones. Sure, she's made love songs before, but none quite like this.

Hope didn't want to call it a 'love' song, but there was no other way to describe it. She's had the lyrics written slowly during the end of the tour, and was never nervous for Awsten to find it, she would wait until everyone was asleep to turn on her bunk light, and write everything she felt down.

Once she reached the bridge, she could feel her heart beating quick and butterflies in her stomach. The thoughts of everything never failed to flood her head, they always did.

When Hope was finished, tears were brimming her eyes. She didn't completely understand why, but it was happening.

She walked out and Joshua's jaw was slightly dropped, "How long has it been since you put that much heart into recording?"

Hope laughed lightly, "A year? I don't know, but it's definitely been a long time."

"Do you wanna hear it?" Joshua asked.

Hope nodded, then Josh played the song.

"It definitely needs a couple touch-ups with the instrumentals," Hope pointed out. "Can I work that out?"

"Of course," Joshua answers, getting out of his chair so that Hope can over and fix up the instrumentals.

After about twenty minutes worth of touch-ups on the song, it was finished. Hope jumped out of her seat, lifting her arms over her head and a huge smile on her face. "It's fucking finally finished!"

It was coincidently the perfect time, Hope's phone lit up and buzzed, the contact photo for the call showed up, reading 'Awsten<3'.

She swiftly picked up the phone and let out an energetic "Hello?"

Awsten's voice on the other end did not mimic her at all. He sounded tired, "Hey, shitface." Yet, she could still hear the slightest joy in his voice from her picking up the phone.

Hope laughed at his attempt, "Just so you know, you're the one who kissed this shit face."

"Touché," Awsten said. There was a small break of silence before he spoke again, "Do you have time to talk for a second?"

"For you, I always do." Hope could hear nervousness from the way Awsten asked the question, but she still stayed the same in an attempt to cheer him up, "What's up?"

"I finished recording the song I showed you. I stayed up all night fixing a bunch of shit up. I just got back home from a walk with Travis. It was his idea of getting my energy up, but I don't think it did anything, I don't know if you can hear it from my voice from over the phone."

Hope's face lit up from the first sentence, "That's amazing, are you keeping it as sleep alone?"

"Yeah. What have you been up to?"

"Well, I just finished a song myself." She took a quick glance to Josh, he laughed silently and rolled his eyes from her saying that she did the whole thing herself.

"Can I hear it or should I wait?"

She let out a high pitched 'hm' before answering Awsten's question, "I think you should wait until it's out, trust me on this."

"Damn, can you at least tell me what it's about?" Awsten said in a fake, sad voice. There was a quiet shuffling sound in the back while he talked.

"You will definitely know what it's about once you hear it. I don't even think anybody else will know but you and me. But let me tell you, this song is so different from my other one's that it just might be the best I've ever made in a long time."

"Well, I-" Awsten paused from what he was going to say, he let out a small groan. "I just got a text, they want me in the studio again. They said someone is going to be there, I don't know if they're okay with that, but I gotta go. I'll call you again tonight, okay?"

Hope closed her eyes, wishing there was a way to keep Awsten on the phone with her longer. On tour, they always had time to be with each other, but now that they're half a country away, it's hard to find time to talk to each other for just five minutes. Their time zones were an hour different, which wasn't too bad, but Hope was an hour ahead of Awsten, meaning that he would call her at night while she's asleep and he wouldn't know.

"Okay, text me when this time. Bye."

Awsten said a quick 'bye' before ending the call. Hope let out a small sigh, and Joshua could tell something was up.

"What's going on?" He walks over to her, standing next to the chair that Hope sat back down in mid-call.

"It's just that Awsten and I have never had a decent chance to talk to each other since the tour was over. Then, we saw each other every day, and yeah, it was nice that he came to my apartment for my birthday, but I wish he stayed a little longer."

*time skip*

It was around nine at night and Awsten promised Hope that he would call her before she went to bed, but it was getting closer to the time she usually does, so she started to question if he forgot or just didn't feel like calling. She was on her bed, completely ready to just fall asleep if Awsten told her that he couldn't call her.

Hope was about to give up until she saw Awsten facetiming her. She quickly answered the call, Awsten's face appearing on the screen almost immediately, seeing his bright smile once he saw her.

"You picked up pretty quickly, you just couldn't get enough of me, could you?" Awsten laughed.

"I never will."

Awsten stayed silent, just watching Hope through the phone, adoring the way she manages to look amazing no matter what time of day it is. "You look gorgeous without makeup, you know that?"

She didn't say a word, the blush appearing on her face said enough.

Awsten wanted to save her from any further embarrassment, but he loved it when he was the reason for her blushing. "So, are you prepared to see your mom again? Like...mentally prepared?"

"I think so," Hope trails off, her eyes lit up with realization. "Shit, I forgot to pack, I'm staying there for over a week."

Awsten started audibly laughing, "Now who is the irresponsible one?"

"Um...Jawn," Hope said with a straight face.

Awsten's jaw slightly dropped, with a small smile, "I'm telling him you said that."

The next hour was filled with stupid jokes that they both laughed at.

At certain points, Awsten's mom would peek in and ask what's going on and to see how Hope was doing. She has always been the sweetest woman Hope has met, very opposite to her own mother, so it was a breath of fresh air when she treated Hope like her own daughter.
