12:02 a.m.
As Awsten listened to the song, his head moved to the beat, but Hope noticed something was...off about him.
"Awsten?" She asked, putting her hand on his cheek. "Are you okay?"
He nodded in response, "Um, yeah. But I have a couple questions about it." Awsten sounded hesitant to talk, he didn't know whether he should ask them because of the answers he could get.
"Okay, fire away." Hope adjusted her position so that she was sitting next to Awsten.
He cleared his throat, wondering where to start. "So," his voice was quiet. "Is this about..well uh, me? It sounds a little selfish to ask that, but I was just wondering and I thought I should just ask."
"It is about you. How are you feeling about that?" Hope didn't know what to say. It hurt her too much to see Awsten questioning it, let alone being so hesitant to ask about a song that was about him.
Awsten started to smile and hugged Hope, almost causing her to fall back. She laughed and Awsten started kissing her cheek. Then, he pulled away to speak, "Nobody has ever done that for me before, usually I'm the one writing the songs for other people. I guess this is just different. When did you write this?"
"Well, it happened a lot faster than I thought it would, only took me two hours. But, I wrote it on tour, the same night that we... uh." She was stumped, at a loss for words. It shouldn't have been that awkward to say it, but since they never really talked about what they thought of it, saying it never came up.
"The same night we had sex on the bus, yeah," Awsten said quickly, his face turned red while thinking of that night. "Which isn't the best place to do it, especially when there's people sleeping right above you. But, I guess if that never happened, this song wouldn't exist."
Hope knew he was right, nothing in these pass few months would happen if he didn't even reach out to her. What was the best four and a half months would have been wasted on somebody who wouldn't be Awsten, who couldn't make her feel how she does about new things. Her life would be so much different without him.
They eventually decided to sleep, and see what comes up in the morning for them to do.
*time skip*
Awsten was the first to wake up, as usual. He tried his best to get out of bed without waking up Hope, and he eventually succeeded.
He finds a long-sleeved Guess shirt and his usual black skinny jeans, adding a jacket and a white hat with the word 'mom'.
"Well, how long have you been up for?" Hope's voice startled Awsten as he was in the middle of changing his clothes, and he jumped when he heard her.
Realizing it was just her, he answered, laughing a bit, "Uh, not even five minutes."
Hope got out of bed, a sly smirk on her face, "And um, did you do this on purpose so that I would wake up seeing you in just your boxers or?"
"I feel like I should say yes right now. But, it is your fault for watching me," Awsten explained, putting his arms around Hope's waist. He took a pause, then talked again, "Speaking of watching, have you gotten any weird notes since I've been to your apartment?"
Hope shook her head, "No, but ever since you left, I've had this feeling like I was being watched. That might have been a coincidence or I was being paranoid. But it's every time I talk to you on the phone or am with you, that feeling is gone."
There was then a triumphant look on Awsten's face. "So you're saying that you feel safe when I'm with you?"
"You know, Jawn told me not to feed your ego, but yes." She pulled Awsten down to eye level to give him a quick peck on the lips.
