Her alarm rang, pushing every sleep to the abyss where it crawled from. She hastily got ready for work. Though she hated everything to do with her job, she still depended on her paycheck. She stood by her mirror, appraising herself. She was dressed in a deep blue blouse and black straight skirt, it hugged her hips and brought out her curves. She had put on a pair of black stilettos. She was looking good, she had a light make up on and was now ready to hit the bus for work. She bid farewell to Jerry and Jared who were preparing stuff to go to the hospital with. To her greatest surprise, she saw a limousine parked in front of her house. She could have ignored it if it was any other car but a limo? No limousine had ever visited the suburbs and it had suddenly parked before her house?
Starring at it in puzzlement, she caught sight of the driver. He was starring back at her, she then recognized him as the big burly man who led her to the private room of Mr. Wallace at oxygn. She swallowed. What business did he have with her? Was that devil inside that car? She hoped not. Understanding the meaning of his gaze, she made her way around the car so she could get to the passengers seat but saw Mr. Dimitri seated and dread caught her then and there. She quietly opened the back door and while entering she made sure not to stare at the figure who was seated by her.
The trip was even more silent than a graveyard by midnight. She was sure she could here the sound of a pin drop. They went on everyone unbothered about the eerie silence except her of course but she dared not to utter a word because she would be crucified on the cross of Calvary with Jesus. In a flash, they were already at the buildings garage. Romeo and Elisha used the common elevator to reach their place of work while she had to enter Nathan's private elevator which led them straight to the top floor that was occupied solely by him, he had fixed up a little space for her though. He acted as the gentleman he wasn't and gave way for her to enter first. When they were in, she glanced his way and found him with a pair of spectacles. Strange! She hadn't seen him the entire time until now with glasses and funny enough he looked gentle, the opposite of his true self. She couldn't deny the fact that the looked handsome and could be the definition of perfect. The aura he exuded was top notch. She gulped the non-existent lump in her throat.
Immediately they arrived, the got out and she noticed that he moved briskly leaving her behind was she overthinking things? Just when she was certain he wouldn't utter a word before her, she heard him say...
"Send me the papers you had been working on at noon". He said with no trace of leniency. "Don't delay miss Moriaty".
Did she hear right? Miss Moriaty? Wow! So what was going on? Is this how he treats his personal assistants? Forget the fact that they had met before and their history wasn't a pleasant one, did he pick them up from their homes also? Was he now putting their past behind and was being the professional boss to his employee?
"Did you get me miss Moriaty?"
"Absolutely Mr. Wallace". She answered with a little nod. She was the first one to end the starring contest. She had a task to do and she didn't want to risk it for his gorgeous face.
She could feel his eyes on her as she moved to her desk. Before she could pose him the obvious question? He got into his office. No more bickering she thought. He had put their problems aside so she had to follow suit and act as professional as possible. She didn't want to lose her job did she now.
