It was evening already, Nathan had decided it was time for them to retire from work. The day had been tedious on her and the events that had unfolded were driving her mad. She could still feel the emotions from that moment, need gnawing at her. She was trying her very best to stay calm and composed while seated with him, for they were riding home, and the atmosphere was serene. Her mind began playing with thoughts, she had in her tones of questions but she was conflicted about the right time to ask. She glanced at him, noting how concentrated he was while driving. His eyes stayed on the road, she felt she was going to disturb him but she wasn't feeling sound so she ended up asking,
"Nathan what actually happened at Doryn's yesterday?" She cringed, noting his jaw clench.
Nathan stilled for a while, he thought she had forgotten the incident but he was wrong about her for the umpteenth time. Was she really unpredictable?
"You saw what happened" was all he could say, he was trying as much as possible to avoid yesterday's hassle. Providing an explanation would require him to open a chapter unknown to her.
"That's the issue...I can't explain what I saw". She probed.
"Somethings are better off unexplainable". He tried ending the matter but she refused to follow.
"Yup are hiding something". She had no choice but to draw such a conclusion. Why was he not providing her an answer? He kept her in the dark, not making her understand any of his actions. Why was he hell bent on not letting her go? Until he was ready to send her family abroad. Coming to think of it, she realized she had given to him the reigns of her life, he was now the one in charge.
"You are just overthinking things". He told her.
It infuriated her whenever he acted superior unreasonably. He was using his power to shut her up. She was not going to dance to his tune.
"That car should have ground us, but it didn't, I saw that you used your fist to halt the car, no human can do that. I saw your knuckles covered in blood yet I saw no wounds or cuts. Nathan what are you?"
He applied the brakes, bringing the car to an abrupt halt, if not that she had a seat belt on, she would have broke through the windscreen and landed outside. They were in the middle of the woods. That was were he had chosen to situate his house; in the outskirts of town.
"What do you think I am?" He asked her under clenched teeth.
"Nathan you are far from being human...I'll find out what you are".
He chuckled maniacally at her response. This further convinced her that she was right, he wasn't human. Was he a supernatural? Or the devil himself? He was hellishly gorgeous and alluring, he was definitely from hell. What was she doing by his side?
"Are you scared?" Now that he asked, it dawn on her that she wasn't feeling a nuance of fear towards him. Strange, she wasn't afraid of him even after he had subtly confirmed he wasn't human.
"I am not". She answered.
He smirked.
"Very much expected, you have fallen deep such that you can't imagine being without me".
She scoffed. "You are the one head over heels in love with me". She smirked at him.
He groaned, his chest vibrating vigorously. Why did he feel she was going to use that against him.
"You want me desperately Mr. Wallace but you don't do virgins". She grinned wickedly at him.
He was looked angry and enraged but she didn't care about his little show of anger. How dramatically temperamental he was, she thought.
"I'll shit you up if you keep spouting nonsense". He threatened, she knew he wasn't kidding, why wouldn't he when he took pleasure in having her sultry luscious lips.
He saw the challenging look she had in her eyes, she always loved to test his patience and tempt him, she was anything but Ravaya, he didn't want to admit it but this aggressive side of her was enticing. In the past he couldn't imagine his mate as feisty as this living temptation seated before him. Did Ravaya have this hidden behavior in her and was acting all goody two shoes back then, if true then he wouldn't blame her. He was a renowned king, the infamous king of the vampires who were the top of the food chain. He had detested the fact that his mate was a weak human but he had no choice but to love her, the bond was impossible to resist.
Now that he thought about it, he realized that, it wasn't the bond that was influencing his burning desires but his own feelings. He had fallen madly in love with her. Not because she was Ravaya but because she was Gelma, the one who quacked his world, rendered him helpless without even trying. Other women would stir the seas just to gain his attention but this woman, her presence alone was overbearing.
"Nathan". She called, sounding alarmed and that drew him out of desire land. He hummed, signaling her to speak.
"I saw something...I have had two images since last night". He was quite intrigued. Had her powers began displaying? Or were they fragments of her past flashing in her head?
"What are they?"
"I saw a woman standing in a field of red roses, she looked nothing like me but I felt a connection with her, it was like I was starring at my own self". She hesitated, he had given no response to her even after seconds of stillness.
"What more did you see?"
"Nathan I saw you... I don't understand what or how but Tyler was approaching me, funny enough it was your face I saw, the only difference was that you had freckles then...and you have none now". She told him.
"What else did you take notice of?"
"You had platinum hair". He nodded at her reply. She was still awaiting an explanation to all these but he kept silent.
