"Hit the stage, rock a little."
"Ok guys, what the hell are we playing?" Connor asks.
"How many songs did Ollie say we had to do?" Erin asks back.
"Well, she does make me very happy," Caleb commented while winking at Chloe and looking happy for the first time tonight.
"I swear it will be a cold day in hell before that man gets lucky again!" Louisa grumbles.
"Seriously who is that punishing?" Haley sniggers.
"Shit that's true, ok we need to come up with some sort of cruel and unusual punishment as soon as this is finished." That is all Louisa says and we can't help but laugh, we all know she loves that man with all her heart and will continue to do so no matter what hair-brained scheme he comes up with depending on the day.
"How about we start with a cover, do three of our songs, and then finish with the single?" I put it up as a suggestion.
"Right let's do, 'running up that hill', followed by 'what it means to be a girl', 'x & y' then 'my best friend's ex', and end with 'Little girl gone'. Are you ok with that Lettie cause all but one it's kind of all on you?" Caleb says taking charge of the situation.
"Yeah, I'm good. Erin does 'my best friend's ex' plus Louisa does bits of other songs. I wrote them I might as well sing them." I joke trying to find the confidence I had ten minutes ago.
"Ok let's go and do this shit them!" Rob says moving on to the stage, with the rest of us following, some slower than others.
Jensen's POV
I sit back in my seat ready to enjoy the show. I must admit I have no idea what to expect. God, I hope they are good. I really should have listened to something before I came here. I mean I guess it doesn't matter but for some reason, I'm sitting here feeling nervous.
"so, you've never listened to them before? I know I may have a biased opinion, but I think you're in for a good show. Plus, in all the time I've known Lettie, I've never seen her do anything badly. "Chloe says.
I chuckle nervously. "That's good to know." I smile. "So, does Scar sing all the sings or? "Chloe shakes her head. "It really freaks me out that you call her Scar, she's made it very clear that was a no-go to us. To answer your question most are, some songs have parts sung by the others, and a couple are sung by someone else outright. But 99.9% of the songs are written by Lettie, I'm sure she has enough songs written to fill twelve albums already. and she sort of has the better voice, not that the others are bad. You know what I mean?"
I have to say that impresses me, to know that she writes the songs too. I'm even more interested to see what songs she writes and what inspires her. It finally registers that Chloe had said something about me calling her Scar. "Should I not be calling her Scar? I don't want to do anything wrong or upset her."
"No, no it's fine. If she hasn't said anything to you already. Lettie isn't usually shy in telling people what she thinks or feels. Erm, maybe it's something you should talk to her about, we know some stuff but it's best coming from Lettie." Chloe stumbles through her response.
Something isn't sitting right with me but before I can ask anymore Erin introduces the band and the music starts. I must remember to talk to Scar or should I say Lettie, later.
Erin says they are going to do a cover then a couple of their own songs and end with the single that is due to be released next week. From the moment she starts singing she takes my breath away. Her voice is a little unsteady, unsure maybe to start with. The cover they picked I don't recognize at first until it gets to the chorus. They have made it their own and it's good. I can't wait to hear what their album sounds like. Despite the shaky start, the power in her voice is obvious. By the time they start their songs, her voice is more confident, and it's clear to see she's more comfortable, the song itself is a bit poppy for my taste but it is good. I especially appreciate the dance moves that go with it. The second song was a bit more attitude, Erin hasn't got a bad voice either but so far, I agree with Chloe, and yeah maybe I'm a little bit biased too. I'm interested to know if this is one of the ones written by Scar or someone else. So, I turn to Chloe and ask.
"This was more a collaboration. Caleb wrote the music, but all the girls worked on the lyrics. This one however was all Lettie." She answers as the third song starts. As I sit there listening to the lyrics of the third song, Firstly Louisa's voice stands up pretty well too and I'm starting to wonder who hurt Scar. Also, what kind of dick would cheat on her. The last song, the one I plan on buying when it's released, it's awesome. Louisa starts off and does the angrier parts of the song while Scar does more of the singing parts. It's definitely a fight song, which makes my previous question even more important. I know I'm sitting here with a grin on my face, I weirdly feel proud of this amazing woman. I've watched in amazement as they continued through the performance, I have to say I'm impressed. The single is slightly different from the other stuff, but it had a good sound.
By the time they have finished and have come back over, everyone has had enough and the happy mood from earlier has well and truly left the building, so we all decide to call it a night. There's a few unhappy looks in Ollie's direction, I'm guessing it's safer for his sake that we leave now.
"Do you fancy another drink, or do you need to head out?" I ask Scar whilst taking her hand. I don't know what it is but I feel like I have to touch some part of her all the time. I feel this magnetized energy coursing through me. At this point, I should be wondering where the guys have gone and thinking about heading home but that means leaving her and I just don't want to do that.
"Yeah, we can do that. I don't want to leave just yet." Scar answers and it's music to my ears.
"Well, you could try the mini bar in your room!" Rob says and pats me on the back whilst moving to kiss Scar on the cheek and says goodnight. I must admit I like his style and appreciate the suggestion.
"We could do that; I mean if you want to that is? I mean I don't mind. I'm happy either way and happy to chat some more. Wherever, ok I'm rambling again, aren't I?" Scar says looking at the floor.
"Darling take a deep breath. I'm starting to worry about you coming up for air at this point. I'm happy to do that. No expectations, no pressure. Just a drink yeah?" I say whilst slowly lifting her chin with my finger. She smiles and takes my hand again as we walk out of the bar.
