CHAPTER SEVENTY TWO

"Happiness was taken from me many years ago. There was always something missing, and a truth I had to know. I have waited for a lifetime for the day that you would show. Happy just to see you, I was happy to see you. Many years I travelled in my search for honesty. For the answers to the questions and the emptiness in me. Never doubting that the knowledge and your truth would set me free. Happy just to see you, I was happy to see you."

                     Jensen's POV

It's been a fun road trip all in all. Spending time with my brother and sister. We just about had enough time for mom to throw us some snacks for the road. We made good time, luckily this time of night the roads are pretty much clear and I may have a lead foot and pushed it as hard as I could to get here sooner. Now it's just after two in the morning and we are fast approaching the ranch.

"This is the ranch?" I hear Josh asks from the backseat as I pull onto the land.

"Yep, and that over there is Scar's pride and joy."

"That's her bar. Cool, looks like a nice place to hang out." Mac says.

"Yeah it is nice. Good food, good friends and the added benefit that the band performs here when they can." I say, for some reason I feel like I'm trying everything I can to sell them on her. "The whole place is awesome. Incredible views. You wait till you see her house." I continue as I make my way through the land till I get to the lake. I pull up outside and give her a call. I hope to God she's still awake.

"Hi, you guys nearly here?" She asks and she sounds so happy and cheery. I'm glad her mood has picked up from earlier.

"Yes, darlin'. we just pulled in."

"Ok, the doors open. Come on in, I'm just finishing up with this." Before I have time to ask what it is she's finishing up with or the more important question or why her door is unlocked she's put the phone down. I sigh and get out the car.

"This place looks something else." Mac says as she joins me in getting out the car.

"You wait till you see inside." I tell her with a smile as we wait for Josh to finally join us before I lead the way inside. I push the door open and look over towards the kitchen where I can hear bumping and banging. There's my girl. Now I just need to figure out what the hell she is doing.

"Come on in, feel free to make yourselves at home. I won't be too much longer I promise. I didn't think you would be here yet and I would have time to finish this last one." She rushes out. Yeah panic is rising. I signal for the other two to take a seat and ask if they want a drink. I move into the kitchen to grab their soda's but can't resist kisses the hell out of her first.

"Ok, I have two pretty important questions. First of all why the hell is your door unlocked at this time of night?" I ask as I finally manage to pull myself away from her.

"Well, hello to you too Jay." She sighs and I know I'm not going to like what comes next. "The girls haven't long left and I've been trying to get all this done so figured it would be ok for you guys to let yourselves in."

"Not exactly the safest thing in the world sweetheart." I say not fully understanding. She's usually so much more careful than that. "Ok, but maybe not do that again please. For the sake of my panic levels please." I say as I kiss her head. "Ok, next question. Sweetheart what is all this?" I ask pointing to all the takeout boxes covering her kitchen sides.

"I can't turn up to your parents house without anything. Unless your mom will be offended. Oh fuck. I bet she will, won't see. Oh, you idiot Lettie. Why would anyone want all this. I bet your mom makes beautiful food." She's running a mile a minute and looks so sad again.
